A workshop also accompanies this package where nurses will be able to practice the skills of accessing PICCs/Portocaths/CVLs learned in the package with in a simulation environment. At the completion of this package nurses and midwives should be able to: Identify types and definitions of CVADs Describe the anatomy and physiology of blood flow in relation to CVADs Describe the advantages and disadvantages of each device Describe the principles of infection prevention and control Identify complications and describe prevention and management of each device Understand the action of medications and drug precipitates Accurately document CVAD care Understand the principles of patient education Describe catheter considerations when administering Parenteral Nutrition (PN) (as applicable to your area of practice)
