MISSION STATEMENT FOR THE 15TH ANNUAL
NWOAPM SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR
The intent of this program is to present thought provoking topics underlining current trends in medicine and
surgery for the lower extremity. The subject matter selected addresses a variety of topics pertinent to the
average clinical practice. A specific goal is to focus upon subject matter that is pertinent to all practice styles.
Each category of lecture addresses clinical evaluation, conservative approaches and select surgical procedures.
Ultimately this continuing medical education series is geared to promote enhanced knowledge and disseminate
current ideologies provided through the non-profit organization proudly known as the NWOAPM.
2015 Seminar Spot Lights: This year the North West Ohio Academy of Podiatric medicine is proud to
present a cavalcade of speakers sure to entice your intellect. Among them are some of Ohio’s most
respected vascular specialist, renown podiatrists with subspecialties in biomechanics, infectious disease,
surgery and periferal vascular disease. It is always refreshing to inject the program with new insights on
research, clinical practice and surgical ideology and this year is no exception. Inviting new personalities to
share their insights often challenges the local ideology in patient management and adds spice to this
program.
The NWOAPM Resident Consortium; Manuscript Presentations provides a forum for residency
programs to highlight the brightest of their stars. Presented in this segment are preliminary research projects
and unusual case studies. While each of the residents work tirelessly throughout the year only a rare few go
above and beyond the call of duty exploring specific pathology, case series and surgical concepts to prepare
manuscript presentations worthy of publication in peer review journals. This year we are proud to bring to
the podium residents from St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, St. Vincent Charity Hospital,
Cleveland, Ohio and Mercy Health Foot & Ankle Residency Cleveland, Ohio.
The NWOAPM Fire Side Chats: The NWOAPM proudly presents these Fire Side Chats, a segment that
has been fondly regarded as
. As a whole, this group of
surgeons has a strong impact on the shape of residency training and podiatry education in the region and
they continue to help improve the quality of our up and coming practitioners. The NWOAPM speaker faculty,
will tickle your intellect and broaden your insights to all categories of practice including reconstructive
surgery, foot trauma, and the ever evolving world of the diabetic patient and wound management. While
differing preferences in procedure selection may be demonstrated throughout this seminar it is understood
that the specific techniques presented will provide excellent functional outcomes when applied in appropriate
clinical scenarios. This session of the program has proved to be a spotlight that attracts the best attendance
of the series,
. You don’t want to miss this interactive forum. It is hoped that the registrants
will take full advantage of this segment to share their own cases for second opinion. Our 5-star faculty
will provide professional opinions that may well change the complexion of otherwise complex or confounding
cases.
At the conclusion of this program it is hoped that the registrants will have a renewed enthusiasm for the
subject matter presented
Thank you one and all for your educational thirst and
continued support of this project.
Respectfully submitted,
2
