STEEL. REDEFINED.™ NSB 72 Powder Metal Alloy NanoSteel NSB 72 is a nanostructured powder metal steel alloy featuring extreme hardness and excellent wear resistance with salt fog corrosion and excellent pitting resistance. The hot hardness approaches cemented tungsten carbide/cobalt composites. FLOW CONTROL MINING CUTTING TOOLS BEARING The spherical morphology of this powder results in an excellent packing factor for producing high density finished parts with high dimensional tolerance control. The micron-sized powders are centrifugally or gas atomized and are commonly consolidated by MIM, Additive Manufacturing, HIP or other processes. Corrosion Resistance Salt Fog Corrosion NSB 72 has corrosion resistance when exposed to a salt fog environment5. It performs equal to 316L stainless steel and is superior to hardened 420 stainless steel (51 HRC). 5 NSB 72 316L SS A11 ASTM G85-A2 cyclic acidified salt fog test for 168 hr (modified ASTM B117) Copyright © The NanoSteel Company, Inc. This alloy has an exceptionally high critical pitting temperature of 85° C according to ASTM G48 Method E. The CPP curve shows a small amount of hysteresis which indicates that very little permanent damage (e.g. pitting) occurs during the test. 7 Cyclic Potentiodynamic Polarization ASTM G61 – conducting cyclic potentiodynamic polarization measurements for localized corrosion susceptibility of iron-, nickel- or cobalt-based alloys NSB 72 Availability In stock – 25 lb containers or bulk quantity upon request.
