As the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity comes round again, beginning today, we are being challenged to go deeper in our understanding of one another as we pray for the unity of all Christians as Christ himself prayed. Saturday 17 January 10.00 Rosalie Hughes RIP 18:00 Lena Crinnegan RIP, 15th Anniversary 18 January: SECOD SUDAY 08:30 All Parishioners # 10:00 Deceased members of the Carpenter Family ~ # 12:00 Ian Sulzdorf RIP # Today, there will be a service at Christ church Methodist, Lower Addiscombe Road at 6.30pm to mark the opening of this week for Christian Unity. Please make an effort to attend. Next Sunday there will be a service at West Wickham and Shirley Baptist Church, on the corner of Wickham Road and Monks Orchard Road at 6.30pm to mark the end of this octave of prayer for unity. Again, I encourage those who live in the Shirley area to attend. I know that many of you assist other local churches in their outreach to the homeless and the needy. This is excellent, but it is also important that we meet to pray together. 19 January 10.00 Eucharistic Service Perhaps, during the week you might decide to have a conversation with someone from another denomination about your beliefs! 23 January 10.00 Winifred & Ernest Foster & Emilio Cicco RIP May our encounter with Christ and Christians of other traditions open for us new horizons and help us to go beyond our comfort zone in following what Jesus calls us to do.
