Public visitation will be Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Fluker Funeral Home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross.
The family will receive friends this evening from 6 until 8 o’clock at the funeral home.
The body will lie in repose Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday to the hour of service.

Mary M. Griffin
Mary Emma Melton Griffin, 85, of Waycross, died Wednesday morning (Jan. 14, 2015) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities after a short illness.
She was born in Hoboken to the late Floyd Dorse and Bertha Mae Dryden Melton. She lived most of her life in Hoboken until
2005 when she moved to Baptist Village.
She worked as a tobacco farmer, at Reuben Brothers and at King and Prince Seafood in Brunswick.
She was a faithful member of Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church.
A loving mother, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, farming, raising hogs, church services and was a friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ira Griffin, her second husband, Jessie Crews, sonin-law, Robert “Bobby” Sigurnjak, granddaughter-in-law, Marlene Crews, three sisters, Rosa Lee, Louise Bell, Georgie Abel,
four brothers, Robert Melton, Jessie Melton, Albert Melton and Henry Melton.

A funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will also be meeting at the old home place, 13 Silver Lake Road, Hoboken, William and Nancy Bryan’s home.

Margaret ‘Meg’ Stebler
Margaret Lorraine “Meg” Stebler, 83, died Monday (Jan. 12, 2015) at St. Vincent’s Health System Riverside in Jacksonville, Fla., following an
extended illness.
She was a native of Bethlehem, Pa., but lived most of her life in Waycross. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Michael E. Stebler III,
and her parents, Michael Sepella and Anna Kopac Sepella.
She was a member St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Waycross Woman’s Club, the Garden Club and various other organizations. She was a former
flight attendant with Colonial and Eastern Airlines.
Survivors include two daughters, Larissa Ann Stebler, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Daria Ann Stebler Kartsonas (husband, Dimitri), of Atlanta;
and two grandchildren, Olivia and Christopher Kartsonas.
A Requiem Mass will be held noon Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Daniel Robert Clark Jr.
Daniel “Dan” Robert Clark Jr. was born March 23, 1944, to Emma Jane and Daniel Robert Clark in Washington, D.C. He died at his home in Blackshear on Dec. 7th, 2014.
Dan was joined by a sister, Suzanne, in 1947, and a brother, Dennis, in 1950. Daniel Robert Clark Sr. served as an engineer in the U.S. Army Corps
of Engineers, which provided Dan Jr. with an opportunity to live throughout the world with his family and experience different cultures and people
both in Japan during the Occupation and France after World War II.
The family returned to the states in the mid 50’s, living in Seattle before settling back in Virginia. He was an active and adventurous child and
adult, who was always curious and enjoyed traveling and meeting new people.
While traveling in Mexico in 1967, Dan met Rudi Faltus, who was traveling with friends in what would be the first of many Volkswagen campers
in their lives. After meeting in Mazatlan, they embarked on a free spirited road trip through Mexico, leading to very memorable and exciting times.
Dan and Rudi returned to live in Berkeley and then San Francisco, where they married in 1970. Their son, Forest, was born in 1971.
After Dan and Rudi divorced in 1976, Dan lived for many years in Bolinas, Calif., and became an integral part of the community there. He moved
to Blackshear to spend time with his father. He assisted in his father’s end of life care, and became a part of the Blackshear and Waycross communities, where he was known for helping people and animals. Dan was known throughout the area as an avid movie collector. He enjoyed fishing,
reading, watching movies, and listening to music.
Dan was predeceased by his mother, Emma Jane Clark, and his father, Colonel Daniel Robert Clark Sr. (Retired).
Danny G. Altman
Danny G. Altman, 62, died Tuesday morning (Jan. 13, 2015) at his residence after an extended illness.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross. He was employed as a journeyman electrician for IBEW Local Union No. 508. He was a
member of West Carswell Baptist Church, and attended Sweetwater Baptist Church.
His passions were drumming and fishing. He has drumming experience with many local bands from the Waycross area, but his love of Coastal
Georgia attributed to his passion for fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hand Altman; one daughter, Kim Altman, of Waycross; one son, Kevin John Altman, of Waycross; beloved
pet, Harley; three grand-puppies, Gabby, Gidgett and Little Rock; one brother, Jimmy Altman (wife, JoAnne), of Waycross; one sister, Rita Wasdin
(husband, Larry), of Jackson; special niece, Rachael Denton (husband, Bert); two nephews, Joe Loska (wife, Debbie) and Scott Loska; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Sweetwater Baptist Church.

Billy E. Hickson
ALMA — Billy E. Hickson, 64, passed away Wednesday evening (Jan. 14, 2015) at Bacon County Hospital following an extended illness.

Rev. Walter Chapman
The Rev. Walter F. Chapman Sr. went home to the Lord Sunday (Jan. 11, 2015).
Born in Savannah, April 14, 1925, he was raised in Ludowici and Waycross.
He was a Southern Baptist minister of 65 years, a life dedicated to honoring God and ministering to everyone he met. A graduate of Furman University and New Orleans Theological Seminary, he was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in the European Theatre with the 339th Engineering Battalion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace F. and Anna Chapman Sr., brothers, Horace Jr. and Earl, along with a great number of Chapman
family and relatives of Jones Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, IdaRay Roberts Chapman; children, Rosalee, Walter Jr., John and Ray; grandchildren, Jeff, Phillip, Sid,
Chad and eight others; and his newest great-grandson, Hunter.
A service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to service.
Upon the passing of IdaRay, a celebration of life and ministry for Rev. Walter and IdaRay, will be announced with burials to follow later in Savannah and Jones Creek. Date for burial will be announced.

Richard C. Smith
Richard Crawley Smith, 63, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning (Jan. 13, 2015) at his residence following lengthy illness.
Born in Waycross, Oct. 16, 1951, he lived in Ware County for many years before moving to Pierce County in 2011. He was a retired quality control supervisor (a job he loved) for Live Oak Homes in Waycross.
He was a people person and was a gentleman to all of his sisters whom he enjoyed camping and fishing with. He loved to be on the river with
them and cherished the many memories that were made over the years.
He also enjoyed leisurely drives and was known as a “photo hog” amongst his family for all of the family photos would end up with him. His
grandchildren were the apple of his eye and brought great joy to him. He was of the protestant faith.
He was a son of the late Crawley and Mamie Lee Taylor Smith. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Leona Faye Spivey and Marilyn
Smith Strickland.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole and Berry Martin, of Alma; seven sisters, Inez Bruckner, of Macclenny, Fla., Joyce Smith,
of Blackshear, Wanell Crawford, of Jacksonville, Fla., Carolyn (John) Joseph, of Macclenny, Fla., Sue (Tolly) Strickland, of Fernandina Beach,
Fla., Paula Taylor, of Callahan, Fla., and Diane Holmes, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Allen (Phyllis) Smith, of Mershon; three grandchildren, Trevor
Batten, Noah Bristow and Cade Martin; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Pearson-Dial Chapel.
Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
