The Art Department will be sponsoring the Homecoming Pre-Game Meal Saturday, January 24th. The Menu is Vegetable Soup,
Loaded Baked Potato Soup, Chicken Noodle Soup, Salad, Desserts, Lemonade and Tea. Come out early to support the Art
Department.
2015 National Geographic Society’s National Geography Bee
Lanesville Junior High School 2015 National Geographic Society’s National Geography Bee Winner is Samantha Pollard, 7th
th
grader. Lucas Hayse, 7 grader, was the runner-up winner. Samantha received a winner’s medal and a certificate. She will take
a written exam to qualify for the Indiana State Competition on Friday, March 27, 2015. Only the top 100 scoring finalists on the
qualifying exam will compete at the State Level. The state first prize is $100 and the trip to Washington, DC. All state participates
receive a certificate and a T-shirt. National Competition will be held on May 11-13, 2015 at National Geographic Society
headquarters in Washington, DC. The National first prize is a $50,000 college scholarship and a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
Congratulations to Samantha and good luck.
Additional classroom winners were: Ryan Barr, Eric Compton, Cole Dubois, Ashley Hemberger, Brooklyn Hunley, and Mary
Brooke Shively. Our geography bee is sponsored by a Harrison County Community Foundation Grant.

The dance will begin immediately following the game. There will be a sign in sheet. If you choose to leave, keep in mind there will not be
readmissions. Students will not be allowed to enter the school after 9:30 pm, so make sure that you are there on time. We will begin
dismissal at 11:15pm, everyone should be picked up by 11:30pm.
ANY DONATIONS ARE WELCOME
There will be a photo booth at the Saturday Night game and Dance. The cost will be $1.00 per session. All funds
will be given to the After Prom committee
BPA Competition
The Lanesville Chapter of the BPA (Business Professionals of America) led this year by Eric Pavey competed in the District 12
Conference this last Saturday 1/17. We are happy to report that this year, all 11 members qualified for the State competition
held in March. Listed below are the results.
In the Chapters History, no TEAM has ever qualified for the state competition. This year for the first time in Chapter History, we
had TWO TEAMS qualify for state.
For Video Production Team: Emily Blackman, Kimberly Simler, Amber Simler, and Luke Jones
For Broadcast News Team: Olivia Romeo, Brent Hardin, Olivia Lavey, and Madison Lindsay
Individuals qualifying for the state competition are as follows:

Prom Dress Sale

North Harrison PTO is sponsoring a prom dress sale Saturday, January 24 from 11am-4pm at the North Harrison Auditorium. It

is open to anyone to buy or sell prom and spring formal dresses. If you have a dress to sell you can drop it off on the 24 from
9am – 10am. There is a selling fee of $2 for dresses $99 and under and $5 for dresses over $100 that you pay at time of drop off.
The dresses must be tagged with the sellers name, selling price, and size. If the dress sells the seller gets 90% and the NH PTO
gets 10%. Call Jamie with questions at 502-387-5441.
Delay reminder information
Remember that 2 hr delays start at 9:55. If there is ever a 2 hr delay on a Friday there will not be early dismissal, school will
dismiss at 3:00.
Prosser students – AM Prosser will not attend Prosser if Lanesville or New Albany/Floyd County Schools are cancelled or on a

delay. They will need to sign into school and report to their 5 period class. PM Prosser students will attend on a revised
schedule.
