The Student Council will continue to collect our donations for saving our Basketball Homecoming through February. Look for the
kids in the yellow shirts both lunches every Friday or find the link on LRCH Student Council social media to our donation page to
donate for great prizes! We're already close to saving our homecoming, don't disappoint your school and not donate!
Yearbook applications are now available for the 2015-2016 staff. If you want to be a part of the award winning and nationally
recognized PIX stop by room 103 for applications.
The Writeous Poetry Club will have a meeting Tuesday, January 27th during both lunches in Mrs. McAdoos's room (PT2). Bring
your poetry, lunch and a friend.
Attention Sophomores and Juniors: Are you interested in a career in Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Finance or Management?
Good News! Marketing is the ideal work program for YOU! Additionally, DECA is the student organization component of the
Program that prepares emerging leaders in these career areas. For applications and information, contact Mrs. Tippin in Rm. 318.

Attention All Seniors: Please make sure you pick up a copy of the January Scholarship Bulletin through your Senior English teacher
or stop by the guidance office for a copy. There is very important information about financial aid, failure of classes needed for
graduation, the Academic Challenge Scholarship, as well as other important information.
Want to show that special someone how much you care? Stop by the newspaper table on the first floor south to buy a Valentine’s
message that will be published in the next issue of the Tiger. The staff will be there both lunches all week. Choose one of our
messages for just dollar, or send a custom message for five dollars!
Attention Students: Job Shadowing is scheduled for February 6, 2015. Job Shadowing Is a motivating activity designed to give
students a hands-on experience at the world of work. Stop by the Guidance Office to pick up an application. Deadline to submit
forms are January 30. Job Shadowing is an excused absence.
Students: If your college requested a midyear report please see your counselor. 7th semester transcripts will be ready for Mid
Year Reports TODAY.

B1 TEACHERS: It’s that time of year again! On Monday, January 26, 2015, please ask your B1 class to nominate one female and one male
student from each grade level. Please return your nomination forms to the main office TODAY. Remember it is difficult to validate the
nomination process if all forms are not return. I will also place a hard copy of the forms in your box in the main office. Thanks.

Attention Seniors admitted to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville – The 2015 Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship
Application is now available. Applicants must be already admitted as an incoming freshmen to the U of A as a degree-seeking student, have a
3.6 cumulative GPA, and a composite of at least 24 on the ACT. The Final Deadline being February 2, 2015. Applications are available at
www.arkansasalumni.org/FRscholarships.
Attention Seniors – Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville has released scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 academic year.
Scholarships are available online at www.siue/alumni/awards. Students must apply for admission to Southern Illinois UniversityEdwardsville. Scholarship applications must be submitted or postmarked by Friday, January 30, 2015.
Attention Seniors interested in careers in Agriculture – America’s Farmers Grow AG Leaders announces a new scholarship program aimed
at students looking for career opportunities in agriculture. Interested students may apply online at FFA.org/scholarships until February 1st,
2015. Students must have three farmers’ endorsements of their application, have a 2.5 GPA, and major in an agricultural related field.
Attention Juniors: The Bezos Scholars Program @ Aspen Institute is now accepting applications for its annual Aspen Ideas Festival in
Aspen, Colorado June 27th – July 3rd. Thirty of the top high school juniors and leading educators from across the US and Africa will meet
that week in a series of seminars and informational meetings to discuss positive social and global change in their communities. Speakers will
include retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, and columnist David Brooks. This is an all

Attention Students: The Pi Omicron Graduate Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is hosting its Annual Talent Hunt Scholarship Program
on Saturday, February 21st at Horace Mann Magnet Middle School at 12 pm. Monetary awards will be presented to the top four contestants,
with 1st place advancing to the District Talent Hunt program in Dallas on April 3rd all expenses paid. Interested students please stop by the
Guidance Office for an application.
Attention Seniors planning on attending UALR: The Chancellor’s Leadership Corps is a comprehensive scholars program which focuses on
learning, leadership, and serving the community. Each year around 175 renewable four-year scholarships are offered, with award amounts


























ranging from $8,000 a year up to $32,000 for four years. Interested students must apply and be accepted to UALR, fill out the general
scholarship application, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Potential candidates for these scholarships will be screened for interviews as part of
the selection process and a letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged. The preferred deadline for consideration is February 1st with
a final deadline of April 1st. Apply at www.ualr.edu/scholarships/apply/ .
The National Society of Black Engineers-Arkansas Alumni Extension Chapter will host their 25th Annual Project Starting Block Seminar on
February 21, 2015. This is a four-part mentoring program for African-American students that want to become engineers. The first seminar
will be held at UALR-EIT Auditorium 9:30 to 1:00 P.M. Come by guidance office to pick up packet. Packet is to be mailed by February 10,
2015.
Do you need tutoring?-TRIO Talent Search on UALR campus will offer tutoring TODAY-March 17. Call 907-2471 or
http://ualr.edu/trioeocets/ets/ for more information. Parents must accompany students on first night of enrollment, student must provide
copy of report card and application must be completed. Please come by guidance office to pick up application.
13th Annual Celebration of an “Evening to Heal a Heart” Symposium is Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 8:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the Holiday

Juniors and seniors are invited to attend Rust College 2015 Visitation Day held Friday, February 13 from 10-1:00 P.M. Come by guidance

Top High School juniors are invited to Henderson 100 program. This two-day event is scheduled for April 24-25th. Please pick-up brochure
and application in the guidance office. Forms must be returned by March 6, 2015.
6th Annual Endangered Species Day Art Contest- Requirements can be found at www.fws.gov/arkansas-es/esda.html. Entries must be postmarked by April 4, 2015.
Information Technology Careers Summer Camp is currently accepting applications for students who are interested in careers in technology.
The camp will be June 17-20, 2015. Students must apply online by February 15, 2015. The camp is free. Apply at

High School juniors with a passion for journalism are encouraged to apply for an all-expenses-paid conference at the Newseum in
Washington D.C. June 20-25, 2015. Students can apply at freespirit.org by Feb. 1, 2015.
Attention Seniors: The Trinity Foundation Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors. These renewable scholarships range
from $2,000 to $5,000 a year. Eligible students must attend an accredited four year university, rank in the top one third of the graduating
class, and demonstrate strong moral character and leadership qualities. Apply online at www.aim.applyists.net/trin2.
Attention Seniors: The Arkansas Public Health Association has announced a $500 scholarship for students interested in majoring in the
public health field. Eligible students must be an Arkansas resident, have a 2.5 GPA, and demonstrate financial need. Interested students

Attention Seniors: The Silas Carneal Jones Scholarship is now available for graduating seniors entering college or a vocational-technical
school for the first time. Interested students must have a 2.5 GPA and an ACT of at least 18. Please pick up applications in the guidance
office.
UAM Weevil Welcome Day is February 6 and 9th. Interested students and parents must RSVP by February 1, 2015 by calling 870-460-1026.
Baptist Health has programs that you can apply to straight out of high school, come by guidance office to get a list of courses and
application deadlines.
Attention Seniors: The Rockefeller Scholarship Award was established by the late Winthrop Rockefeller back in 1953. This scholarship
award is for African-American students planning on attending any one of the accredited institutions within Pulaski County (Arkansas Baptist,
Philander Smith College, Pulaski Technical College, or UALR). Interested students must have a 2.5 GPA, letters of recommendation, good
citizenship, financial need, membership in a service or academic organization, and an acceptance letter. There will be multiple winners
chosen from Central for this award. Scholarship amounts will total $2,000. Please stop by the guidance office and see your counselor for
an application.

Attention Seniors: The Little Rock chapter of Continental Societies Incorporated has released an academic scholarship in the amount of
$500. Applicants must be accepted to a four year college or university, and complete an essay, and have three letters of reference, among
other selection criteria. Applications must be mailed to the address listed on the application no later than February 21st. Please stop by the
guidance office for an application.
Attention Seniors: The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program has been released for 2015. Buick will award 50 scholarships worth $25,000
a year to high school seniors planning on enrolling in a four year college or university in the Fall of 2015 and plan on majoring in engineering,
technology, design, or business with an interest in the automotive industry. Please visit www.buickachievers.com for more information.
Attention Seniors: The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville has released the Men of Principle
Scholarship worth $500 for incoming male freshmen who have good character, strong academics, and are active in the community. Please
stop by the guidance office for an application.
Students in the 9-12th grade are invited to participate in ASCEND- A college readiness program offered by Alpha Kappa Alpha, sorority.
Applications can be picked up in the guidance office till Jan. 30.
Pulaski County Youth Services will be offering a free ACT preparation course. Courses are on Saturday mornings from March 7- April 11th.
All 10-12th graders who are interested can pick up applications in the guidance office or online at http://pulaskicountyyouthservicrs.org.

The EduGuide Challenge is calling all students to create your own "Drum Major" video. Students in grades 9-12 are invited to submit your
own 1-5 minute video message about the legacy you want to leave. Video must be submitted by 11:59 pm on February 20, 2015. For rules
