Technology
Ten new teachers have joined the Hufford Junior
High staff this year. Veteran staff and students
alike are thrilled to see our Trojan Family expanding! Throughout the year, the newsletter staff will
be profiling new teachers. We know you’ll love
them just as much as we do!
Kristen Brandenburg- Physical Education
Interviewed by Ashlyn F, Lilia H
and Everett G
Q: Why did you choose to teach P.E.?
A: A former coach inspired me to teach.
I think staying active is important.
Q: How long have you been a P.E. teacher?
A: One year.
Q:Were you athletic as a child?
A: Yes. I played volleyball, basketball, and softball. I love golf.
Interviewed by Diana M
& Mindy G
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: I went to North Central College in Naperville.
Q: What do you like about
technology?
A: Everyday it changes. It all
evolves. Everything around
us has to do with technology.
Q: Was Hufford your first choice?
A: I worked in Minooka first as a substitute, but I love Hufford.
Q: What made you want to do your job?
A: I originally wanted to teach in elementary, but I
was happy to take whichever job I was offered first.
Q: Why did you choose to teach at Hufford?
A: Principal Surprenant was the principal in the
same junior high where I went. It was fun to know
my principal was going to be the principal in the
school where I teach.
Q: How old where you when you started to teach
here?
A: I was 25 and I still am. It’s actually my first year.
Q: Why does technology inspire you?
A: My students inspire me. Students will be having
careers that haven’t even been invented yet and
those jobs will have to do with technology.
Q: Was P.E. your first choice or was something else?
A: P.E. was my first choice, but I wanted to teach elementary. I changed
my mind while I was substituting.
Nicole Mata- ALC (IE)

Q: Would you rather be teaching in I.E. or in Gen Ed?
A: As long as I’m teaching I’m happy, but I do love the friendly I.E.
atmosphere.
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: I went to Lewis University.
Q: Why did you want to be a teacher?
A: I want to help kids succeed.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I like to exercise, read, hang out with friends, and I love fashion.
Q: Which subject would you like to teach?
A: I would like to teach history.
Q: Did you ever want to do anything else besides teach?
A: I started my college career wanting to be a nurse.
Q: What were your favorite books in high school?
A: I liked the Kite Runner and the Giver.
