COMPETITION RULES
The International Piano Competition „Craiova – Piano” is organized by „Marin
Sorescu” Art High School Craiova. The competition takes place in a single stage and is open
to young pianists of all nationalities who fall into the following age categories:
- A category – born after January, 2006;
- B category – born after January, 2004;
- C category – born after January, 2002;
- D category – born after January, 2000;
- E category – born after January, 1998;
- F category – born after January, 1996;
- G category (Academic) – born between 1985 and 1996.
I.
Competition repertoire
- A study;
- Two different pieces in style.
The total duration of the repertoire for each category will not exceed:
- 10 minutes in A and B categories;
- 15 minutes in C category;
- 20 minutes in D category;
- 25 minutes in E category;
- 30 minutes in F category;
- 40 minutes in G category;
The contest is public.
II.
Participation conditions
1. Subscription will be done according to the application form that will be sent no
later than March 3 2015 (postmark), accompanied by a copy of your fee receipt to
the address „Marin Sorescu” Art High School, 4 Tabaci Street, Craiova, Dolj
200642.
2. The participation fee is:
- For foreign competitors in A and B categories – 20 Euro; in C, D, E, F categories –
30 Euro; in G category – 40 Euro and will be paid to the Office of the Secretary of
the „Marin Sorescu” Art High School on the contest day.
- Based on requests from application form we can provide you accommodation and
meals in school hostels with fee (small amount).
- For the purposes of the contest competitors will confirm their presence until
March 3, 2015 (postmark) to mail address [email protected]
mentioning: for The International Piano Competition „Craiova – Piano”.
The jury
The jury is formed from outstanding pianists and specialist teachers from
universities in Romania and abroad. The president of the jury of International Piano
Competition „Craiova – Piano” is Walter Krafft – Munchener Musikseminar.

Prizes

The following prizes will be awarded: I , II , III and mention degrees for each
category. All contestants will be awarded with participation degrees.
1. Order entry in the contest and program will be posted on www.craiovapiano.ro
for
other
information
you
can
access
the

2. The president of the jury will award one or more special prizes to competitors
which will be an invitation to perform in a concert in Munich – Germany or other
EU countries (Austria, Italy).
3. A special prize will be offered by Oltenia Philharmonic Craiova which will be a
recital/concert organized by this institution.
4. In the awards day will be organized The Competition Gala, in which the
competitors who have won first prize and other special prizes will perform on the
Oltenia Philharmonic’s scene one piece that they have presented on the
competition chosen by the jury.

5. The jury reserves the right to award or not the I prize in the absolute all ages.
6. The contest will be held at the „Marin Sorescu” Art High School Craiova.
Participants are asked to submit to the Office of the Secretary of the „Marin
Sorescu” Art High School to confirm their arrival and present identification
documents and copies of the scores.
