The Vicar’s slot
Last Sunday, Alison Steele shared a poem she had
written… It’s a wonderful reflection on God’s generosity
which we saw illustrated in the extravagant provision of
the wine at the wedding in Cana. God is in the business of
transformation in our lives through Jesus His Son. We’ve
experienced the peace enfolding and joy erupting this week! We’re
pleased to share the news of the birth of our grand-daughter on
Wednesday night to Jenni and Tom. I’m having to get used to people
saying “Congratulations Grandad!”
Another piece of good news to share is that the PCC has confirmed the
appointment of Jo Smith as our new Children & Families Team
Leader. Jo is experienced and gifted and well suited to take on the
role. Her familiarity with the team and her experience alongside Cara
will be a great asset as she takes on the role. Please pray for Jo as she
‘steps up’ into the new role and let’s all support her and the team in
this important ministry.
Finally, I’m able to share that although we’ve not yet had our year-end
accounts audited, David Cline was able to share some very good news
with the PCC of a real ‘turnaround’ in our finances at the end of 2014.
For this we’re enormously grateful to God who is generous, faithful
and full of surprises. And I’m so grateful to everyone at St Giles who
has responded in sacrificial giving. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
Alison’s poem seems to say it all!
Pressed down, overflowing
Never finished, ever growing
Balloon stretching, life extending
Yeast expanding, horizon blowing
No beginning and no end
Yet you choose to be my friend.
Death defeating
All-encompassing
Everlasting
Innovating
Abundant...
That’s our God.
Peace enfolding, joy erupting
Hope reviving, love enabling
Life enhancing
Abundant! That’s you God.
Amen

Revive your prayer life in Lent
Following positive feedback from the
Prayer Course last year, we are planning
to offer the course again in Lent, to start
on Wednesday 25th Feb at 7.30 in church.
The Prayer Course is a series of six small
group sessions designed to transform our
relationship with God. We are encouraged
to learn not just the theory but to put what
we learn into practice. Details to follow
but if you are already interested please
contact the church office and ask to be
added to the list. To find out more please
speak to Diana Rees-Jones or Bob Steele.
