Adult Formation
Next meeting 19th February at 7.30 pm gathering in the sacristy. Topic
“An historical look at the Stations of the Cross” - all welcome.
Catholic Education Week
This weekend we begin a week of prayer and reflection on the
importance of Catholic Education. We welcome representatives from our
associated schools as well as members of the school communities being
involved with our celebration of Mass.
Special Collection
Next weekend there will be a second collection to support the work of the
Scottish Catholic Education Service.
Bulletin
With St Joseph’s and St John Ogilvie’s parishes now being administered
together by a single clergy team it would seem sensible to rationalise
certain administrative aspects including the production of the weekly
bulletin. To avoid unnecessary duplication of work a single bulletin will
be published to cover both parishes since there is an overlap of
information and activities.
Saturday Morning Mass
To allow the clergy to attend Bishop Nolan’s Episcopal Ordination in
Kilmarnock there will be no Mass this Saturday morning.

The stained-glass artist is working on a design for the windows above
the choir loft. The “Blantyre Disaster” aspect will cost approximately
£15,000. It is hoped that we will get some additional funding once the
plan is drawn up and can be presented to possible supporters. The
artists impression/first sketch is available at the back of the church .
Weekday Masses
To facilitate the ongoing work in the church Mass will be celebrated at
1.00 pm in the church hall Monday to Friday of this week. If there is
any change to this plan notification will be given at weekday Masses.
Appointments
With Mgr. Nolan’s appointment and Ordination as Bishop of
Galloway; Bishop Toal has appointed Fr. Lamb as administrator of St.
John Ogilvie’s, High Blantyre. The appointment takes effect from
14th February. Rev. Joseph Dowds has also been appointed to St John
Ogilvie’s parish while continuing his ministry in St Joseph’s.
Church’s Social Teaching
“For unless the Christian message of love and justice shows its
effectiveness through action in the cause of justice in the world, it will
with difficulty gain credibility with the people of our times.”

Parish Safeguarding
The Diocesan Safeguarding Committee has let it be known that from
October 2015 anyone involved with a parish group must be registered
under the protection of vulnerable groups. If this is not completed
individuals will not be permitted to undertake parish works. Could the
co-ordinators of parish groups please contact:
Joe McBride 07760352788, Bernadette Clements 01698 828598 or
Nicola Carrigan 07967183838.
Stall
St. Patrick’s Day & Mothers Day cards are now on sale in the church
stall.
Works Programme
The Mayberry Place upper roof is now re~slated and the work
platforms will be removed at the beginning of next week. With rising
temperatures the glaziers will be back this week to finish installing the
upper gallery windows. The covers will remain for the next few weeks
to protect the glazing while work is being carried out on the upper
level roof. Hopefully within the next two weeks the upper windows
will be uncovered as work progresses. Apologies for the presence of
the scaffolding at the rear of the church; this should be removed by
Wednesday of this week.
Financial Statement
The annual returns for 2014 are now completed and have been
submitted to the Diocese. Because of our “excessive income &
expenditure” the likelihood is our accounts will be audited by an
independent accountant firm. The summary statement is now available
in the church.
Caritas Award
The young people from the parish who are involved with the Caritas
Award are invited to a short meeting in the presbytery today, Sunday,
8th February at 5.45 pm.

Church of Scotland, Blantyre on March 6th. St Joseph’s parish hosted
