Employment History
Brightfire – Senior UI/UX Designer
Glasgow | 2013 - 2015
I was the creative team leader at this content marketing agency and responsible
for delivering online projects to a high standard. These projects included full
website design and build, app user-interface design, email-campaigns, Hubspot
inbound marketing campaigns and all associated print assets to support these
campaigns. My frequent tasks ranged from wireframing and project planning,
conceptual visual design, client presentation, user-experience analysis and
consulting to hand coding website templates, browser testing and any visual
design as required.
As the head of the creative team I was tasked with managing and supporting
other designers and developers while making sure the team produced excellent
work on time for our clients.
Lewis Creative – UI Designer
Edinburgh/Glasgow | 2013
While working for Lewis I was tasked with the redesign and build of one of their
main clients (Scottish Power) ecommerce platform. I spent the majority of my
time on-site with the client acting as a UI/UX consultant to understand the
project requirements and deliver the best possible solution.
Freelance Digital Designer
Glasgow | 2012 – 2013
Returning to the UK from Australia, I built a small client base offering my services
as a web and print designer. Having good relationships with previous companies
I’d worked with enabled me to secure on-going contract design work with
Travel 2 and also continued working remotely as a digital designer for my
previously employer X Marketing.
X Marketing – Lead Designer
Melbourne, Australia | 2011 – 2012
I worked in this Australian design agency while living in Melbourne. I was the
creative lead and responsible for the concepts, visuals and eventual coding of
websites and apps.
Involved in the day-to-day running of the business, I was also tasked with the
creation of proposals for new business, strategy, client meetings and
presentations. I was responsible for the project management of all website work,
including making sure project milestones were reached, managing timescales
and the liaising with the clients to make sure the project progressed smoothly.
During my time here I was proud to be involved with a special project that gave
school-kids the chance to design and build their school’s website under our
guidance. I led the ‘Design Group’ teaching them on the importance of visual
hierarchy, layout, user-focussed design, etc. and guided them to an elegant and
functional website.
