Campion College News NEWSLETTER No. 02 Term 1, Week 2: 2nd - 8th February 2015 Dear Parents/Caregivers, Nau mai, haere mai, greetings Investiture Mass We will be holding our Investiture Mass in the church this afternoon, 5 February. The Mass begins at 1.45pm and will finish at approximately 2.45pm. At the conclusion of the Mass we will be investing our Prefects, House Captains, Student Council and BOT Student Representatives for 2015. Parents, family members, caregivers and friends are very welcome to join in this celebration of the start of the school year and the commissioning of the student leadership positions. Timetable Structure 2015 We have made some minor changes to the timetable structure for this year. The most significant shift has been to align all Interval and Lunchtimes to the same time each day. We have also reduced assembly time on Wednesday so that classes now finish at 2.15pm. This is to better accommodate students involved in the Wednesday sports programme that commences at 2.30pm. Staffing This year has seen the arrival of two new teachers into the College and the internal movement of three teachers. Rebecca Edge and Jack Gavin have joined the Middle School as Homeroom teachers in Years 7 and 8. They are joined by Aisling Browne who was previously working in the English and Learning Support area. Karyn Sadler has taken on the responsibility of Director of Religious Studies (DRS). She replaces Rosemary Madden who will be leaving us later this term to spend more time with family. Scott Saunders has been appointed as Head of Social Sciences, replacing Karyn Sadler. Frances O’Donnell has taken maternity leave. We wish her all the best. Rachael Williams also continues with maternity leave for this year. At the end of last year we also farewelled Esther Richardson who was teaching in the Science Department. She has taken on a teaching position at Lytton High School. We welcome back Summer Willock into the Learning Support Department. Summer was on maternity leave last year. Amy Broadmore has also joined the Learning Support team. To those who have left us, we wish them all the best for what their futures hold. To those who have joined us we hope you find your time in the College to be stimulating and rewarding. Uniform Shop Most students now have their uniform requirements for Term One. The uniform shop will be open every Thursday from 12.30pm – 1.30pm (term time only). This allows students and parents the opportunity to purchase new uniform as the need arises throughout the year. Student Absentees The College is required to record all student attendances and non-attendances. In order for us to accurately monitor attendance we require your assistance. Please contact the College OFFICE on the day, or prior to the day, your child is/will be absent either by phoning 867 9309 and press 1 to leave an absence message or email [email protected]. When leaving an absence notice, please provide sufficient details to enable us to accurately record the reason for your child’s absence (ie sick, competing in a sport, going away). All absences and student appointments during school hours must be sent directly to the office, (not to teachers and Learning Mentors). If your child is feeling unwell during school time and think they may need to go home then they must come to the College office so WE can contact their parent/caregiver to get permission for them to leave.
