Aaron [email protected] Justin [email protected] Eric [email protected] www.wakondaclub.com 9 golf course Golf Course John Temme Golf Course Superintendent 243.7777 [email protected] June is a great time to be at Wakonda! The pool is now open, tennis is in full swing and the golf course is in prime condition. We have concluded most of our spring projects and now the focus turns to providing championship conditions on a daily basis. Course Condition Greens We are in full swing with grooming, rolling, topdressing and mowing the putting surfaces – they putt and look outstanding! Fairways The cool spring has delayed their green-up, but they are now showing maturity approaching their third year since the re-grassing. Bunkers All bunkers have been checked for proper sand depth. 48 tons of new sand has been added to 12 of the 42 bunkers. Yard Tip Rough Installation of new sod where needed is complete – this includes the first cut of rough. In turn, your yard will be more drought tolerant, free of weeds and aesthetically pleasing. Course Care Did you know an improperly fixed ball mark can take up 3 times longer to heal than one not fixed at all? The “Pitch-Pro” tools provided to you are the best on the market – so please use them to leave the green surfaces better than you found them. For a healthier lawn, raise the mowing height all the way up. This enables the grass plant to produce more energy through photosynthesis. Questions? E-mail me at johnt@wakondaclub. com with any questions concerning the golf course or general yard maintenance.
