JOB POSTING Remote Camp Cook-Medic Position Posted February 10, 2015 Noront Resources is a Canadian-based mining company, and has the largest land position in the Ring of Fire, an emerging multi-metals area located in the James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario. The Company’s flagship project is a 100%-owned, high-grade, nickel, copper and platinum group element (PGE) deposit called Eagle’s Nest. It is the largest high-grade nickel discovery in Canada since Voisey’s Bay and the most advanced project in the Ring of Fire. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced staff member to work in our remote exploration camp. JOB DESCRIPTION As a Remote Camp Cook-Medic you will play a key role at our remote exploration camp in Northern Ontario by performing all kitchen and remote site first aid duties both independently and within a team setting. This position reports to the Camp Manager, under the direction of the Exploration Manager. The position works a ten-hour workday on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotational schedule with occasional paid overtime. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIIES Remote Medic duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: • Attend to all first aid, medical needs or emergencies and assist with evacuations as required 24 hours a day • Liaise with approved medevac locations and remain with patient until they are passed onto higher care • Maintain and inventory control of first aid room, equipment and supplies • Be a team member and support the remote site Emergency Response Plan • Orientate site staff, contractors and visitors to First Aid procedures and Emergency Response Plan Remote Cook duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to: • Plan and prepare nutritious meals and snacks daily for up to 12 people at remote site • Strict adherence to food safety procedures • Maintain cleanliness and operational excellence in the kitchen and preparation areas • Prepare, submit, and receive grocery orders • Maintain onsite food inventory • General kitchen safety and housekeeping REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERTISE • Minimum of valid Advance First Aid/CPR/AED Level 2 Certification, including medical oxygen training • Remote Cook Certificate and/or Culinary Diploma • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate • Valid WHMIS Certificate • Valid Propane Handling Certificate • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office • Previous remote camp site experience is preferred but not necessary • A team oriented, motivated person with an attention for details, accuracy and can prioritize tasks • Proven ability to work efficiently and productively either alone or as a team member when needed.
