

Respect the life and dignity
of the human person by
recognizing that we are
made in the image and
likeness of God
Support family, community
and participation by
recognizing that we are not
only sacred, but social
Respect the rights and
responsibilities of all people
Opt for the poor and
vulnerable through all of
our actions
Respect the dignity of work
and the rights of workers
through our economic
decisions and actions
Recognize solidarity with all
people
Care for all God’s creation
by being good stewards of
what has been entrusted to
us entrusted to us
Lenten Prayer
God of all people,
WELCOME TO THE HUNGER FEAST
At today’s hunger feast, the place you sat and
the meal you ate were determined by luck of
the draw- just as in real life as some of us are
born into relative prosperity and others into
poverty. If you live in one of the world’s
richest countries – United States, England,
France, Italy, Spain, Norway , and Austria- you
will most likely go to bed with a full belly.
Dinner in Russia, Poland, Hungary and Ukraine
is simple, yet adequate. If you live in a
developing nation, however, a bowl of rice
and some clean water will seem like a
gourmet meal.
We offer you our Lenten
journey.
May we learn to walk as
one human family,
remembering in a special
way that those who are the
poorest and most in need.
Bless our prayers, our
fasting and our Lenten
gifts.
Through these actions, we
show our love for your Son,
Jesus, and answer your call
to love one another.
Amen
