EVANS HIGH SCHOOL
“A Place of High Achievement”
Mr. David Christiansen, Principal
•VISION•
Thank you for your commitment to making Evans High School, “A Place of High Achievement,” where our focus is on
learning for all students, faculty, and staff. Evans High School is a place with high expectations for all students, faculty and
staff where teachers and students work together to build a strong, academic foundation based on state, national and
international standards. We strive to provide a rigorous and relevant high school experience with the character, climate,
culture and curricula of a high-quality college or university. We are committed to establishing a cooperative and lasting
partnership between home, school and the community to assist our students in acquiring an education similar to a major
college or university. This commitment is evident in our mission and belief statements, which were developed as part of the
school improvement process.
Evans High School’s philosophy is aligned with the International Baccalaureate Organization’s aims to develop
inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural
understanding and respect. The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their
common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. IB learners strive

of the individual, groups and communities. They take responsibility for their own actions and the consequences that

perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. They are accustomed to seeking and
evaluating a range of points of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.

GPA CALCULATION
To calculate Grade Point Average (GPA), each letter grade is
converted to a quality point number. The quality points are
totaled and divided by the total by the number of classes on the
schedule (six for a full time student).
A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0
Example: The report card shows 3 A’s, 2 B’s, and 1 D. Each A
earns 4 points = 12. Each B earns 3 points = 6, and the D earns 1
point = 1.
12 + 6 + 1 = 19. Divide 19 by 6 = 3.166.
The county office will calculate official GPA’s and will be
updated at the end of each semester.
