COLUMBUS, Ohio - Winners of eight straight matches and ranked third nationally, Ohio
State travels to Edinboro on Sunday for the opening round of the NWCA National Duals with
a date in Iowa City, Iowa looming for the winners. The Buckeyes and Fighting Scots square off
a 1 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.

BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
• Following a convincing 22-13 win over No. 3 Minnesota in front of nearly 6,000 fans at the
Schottenstein Center, the Buckeyes rose to third in this week’s USA Today/National Wrestling
Coaches Association poll. Ohio State is one of four Big Ten schools ranked in the top five.
• Defending national champion Logan Stieber maintains his stranglehold on the No. 1 ranking
at 141 pounds this week. The redshirt senior from Monroeville, Ohio, is 19-0 on the year with
all but two of his wins coming via bonus points (including nine pins). With a career record of
109-3, Stieber’s winning percentage of .973 is the best in school history.
• A major part of the Buckeyes’ success in 2014-15 has been the contributions of true
freshman Kyle Snyder (197 lbs.) and redshirt freshman Bo Jordan (165 lbs.). Snyder is 22-2 on
the year and ranked No. 3 nationally. He leads the team with 13 major decisions. Jordan, who
missed most of November and December with an injury, is one of two unbeaten Buckeyes
this year (14-0) and current is ranked fifth nationally. He recorded a pin over 17th-ranked Nick
Wanzek that gave Ohio State a 16-6 lead with just four matches remaining last Friday.
• Head coach Tom Ryan, in his ninth season at Ohio State, is 111-41 since arriving in
Columbus. He previously spent 11 years at Hofstra where he won six straight conference
championships from 2001 through 2006.

OSU-EDINBORO TIES
Associate head coach Lou Rosselli is a 1993
graduate of Edinboro. He wrestled for the
Fighting Scots from 1989-1993 and was a
two-time All-American as he finished third
and fourth at the 1993 and 1991 NCAA
Championships, respectively. Rosselli also
spent 11 years on the Edinboro coaching
staff before arriving in Columbus for the
2006-07 season.

Tom Ryan concluded his eighth season as head coach of the
Buckeyes in 2013-14. At the culmination of the season, Ryan
witnessed redshirt junior Logan Stieber capture his thirdconsecutive NCAA title, becoming the first wrestler in school
history to win three NCAA championships. The third Buckeye
to win a national title under Ryan’s tutelage, Stieber also won
a Big Ten title for the third consecutive year.
In all, Ryan has coached three different student-athletes to
five national championships as J Jaggers (141 pounds), the 2009
Ohio State Male Athlete of the Year, was a two-time champion
in 2008 and 2009 and Mike Pucillo was the 184-pound champion
in 2008. In the NCAA championship team race, the Ryan-led
Buckeyes have finished in the Top 10 in seven of the last eight
seasons, including back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2008 and
2009.
In addition to Stieber, Ryan coached Hunter Stieber and Nick
Heflin to All-America status at the conclusion of the 2013 NCAA
championships is Des Moines, Iowa. Hunter Stieber, who like
his older brother was crowned a Big Ten champion (141 pounds)
in 2013, finished third at the national event, while Heflin was a
fifth-place finisher at 174 pounds.
Throughout his tenure as the head coach of Ohio State, Ryan,
the 2009 national coach of the year, has maintained a high
standard of excellence for his student-athletes. In addition to
the successes of Jaggers, Pucillo and Stieber on the national
level, under Ryan’s guidance Lance Palmer (2007-10) became
just the second four-time All-American at Ohio State. (Tommy
Rowlands was the first). Ryan, a native of Wantagh, N.Y., is
averaging about three All-Americans a season having coached
23 selections during his seven-year term. Within the Big Ten
Conference, Ryan has coached a quartet of Buckeyes to league
titles in Pucillo (184 pounds in 2008), Palmer (149 pounds in
2010), Logan Stieber (133 pounds in 2012 and 2013) and Hunter
Stieber (141 pounds in 2013).
Academically, Ryan’s student-athletes have impressed with
six Buckeyes recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches
Association with NWCA All-Academic Team accolades – J.D.
Bergman, J Jaggers, C.J. Magrum (two-time), Corey Morrison
(two-time), Mike Pucillo and Colt Sponseller. Additionally,
Sponseller and Ian Paddock were lauded with NWCA Division
I True Freshman All-Academic Team honors.
After arriving at Ohio State in the spring of 2006, Ryan
immediately began the task of completing his coaching staff.
Ryan brought on board some of the best coaching talent in the
nation in Joe Heskett, Lou Rosselli and Tommy Rowlands. Two
years later, this staff would propel the Scarlet and Gray to the
program’s best finish in the NCAA championships. Backed by a
pair of national champions – Jaggers and Pucillo – for a total
of three finalists, Ohio State earned 79 points for the first of
consecutive runner-up finishes.
The following season, Ryan and Ohio State nearly pulled off
one of the biggest upsets in NCAA championship history when
three Buckeyes (Reece Humphrey at 133 pounds; Jaggers and
Pucillo) advanced to the finals with the team lead. In one of
the tightest team races in recent championship history, the
Buckeyes were clipped by Iowa by 4.5 points as Ohio State
finished with 92 points compared to the Hawkeyes’ 96.5.
Prior to coaching at Ohio State, Ryan was the head coach
at Hofstra from 1995-2006. While with the Pride, Ryan earned
ECWA and Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year
honors seven times. He also was named New York State
Coach of the Year twice. Leading Hofstra to six consecutive
conference titles, Ryan and the Pride recorded a 47-match (460-1) conference unbeaten streak in dual action which served
as the nation’s longest conference unbeaten streak. Ryan also
was an assistant coach at Indiana from 1992-94.
Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Iowa
in 1993. He and his wife, Lynette, have four children, Jordan,
Jake, Teague and Mackenzie.

The fourth-ranked Ohio State wrestling team opened its dual meet
season in dominating fashion, defeating Kent State, 38-3, on Thursday
night in front of 2,681 fans at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes won nine
of 10 matches and recorded bonus points in five matches.
In the opening match of the night (125 lbs.), redshirt freshman
Nathan Tomasello got Ohio State off to a fast start, recording a 20-5
technical fall of Kent State’s Del Vinas. Tomasello scored points early
and often in the match, including two take downs and a near fall in the
first period alone.
Johnni DiJulius, coming off a title at last weekend’s Mercyhurst
Open, eked out a tight 2-1 decision over Mack McGuire in the night’s
next match (133 lbs.). Redshirt senior Logan Stieber, a three-time
national champion making his 2014-15 season debut, gave the crowd
plenty to cheer about at 141 lbs., easily dispatching of Kyle Bauer, 150.
Kent State picked up four points in the next match of the night,
149 lbs., when Nate Valentine defeated Blake Riley-Hawkins, 12-0. At
157 lbs., a pair of top-10 ranked wrestlers – Josh Demas of Ohio State
(seventh) and Ian Miller of Kent State (second) matched up. Miller
took an early 2-0 lead in the first period, but Demas came back with a
takedown that resulted in a Miller injury, forcing him to medically forfeit. Kent State was also penalized a point for a personal misconduct,
giving the Buckeyes a 19-3 advantage.
In easily the most exciting match of the night, Ohio State’s Justin
Kresevic, a redshirt sophomore, pinned Tyler Buckwalter with just 14
seconds remaining in the third period to break a 2-2 tie. Mark Martin,
ranked eighth nationally, followed that with a 3-1 win at 174 pounds
against 16th-ranked Caleb Marsh. At 184 pounds, Kenny Courts had no
problem disposing of Cory Campbell, 17-5.
True freshman Kyle Snyder, making his St. John Arena debut,
picked up an 11-6 win over Cole Baxter at 197 lbs. and the match was
rounded out with Nick Tavanello’s overtime decision on criteria over
Mimmo Lytle at 285 lbs.

The fourth-ranked Ohio State wrestling team continued its strong
early-season showing on Saturday, picking up a pair of dual meet
victories at the Journeymen Tussle in Clifton Park, N.Y. The Buckeyes
topped Army, 37-6, and then followed that up with a 30-10 triumph
over Arizona State. With the wins, Ohio State is 3-0 on the year.
Against Army, Mark Martin got Ohio State on the scoreboard with
a 7-4 victory over Brian Harvey at 174 pounds, keyed by a stalling call
against Harvey and a Martin takedown late in the third period. At 184
ponds, Kenny Courts jumped out to an early 7-1 lead in the first period
thanks to two takedowns and a three-point near fall. He secured the
bonus point victory in the third with three takedowns.
Arizona State, which defeated Binghamton 23-15 earlier in the day,
jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first two matches on the strength of
a major decision at 165 pounds and decision at 174 pounds. In the 174
pound match, Raymond Waters got a takedown in overtime to defeat
Martin.
From there, however, it was all Buckeyes as Ohio State won eight
on the next nine contests. Courts picked up a key 3-1 victory over
11th-ranked Blake Stauffer at 184 pounds and freshman Kyle Snyder
moved to 6-0 on the season with a 21-8 major decision at 197 pounds.
Tavanello then eked out a 3-2 decision over Chace Eskam at 285.

Logan Stieber won the 141-pound title, picking up his 100th career
victory in the championship match, to highlight Ohio State’s efforts on
the final day of the Cliff Keen Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. Stieber
capped off a 5-0 weekend with two major decisions, running his season record to 10-0 and career mark to 100-3. The Cliff Kean title was
the fourth of his career, making him just the second wrestler to ever
win the event four times (Stephen Abas of Fresno State is the other).
In the team standings, Ohio State finished second overall in a field
that featured 11 ranked teams. The Buckeyes compiled 120 points,
behind only top-ranked Minnesota. Virginia Tech was third with 110
points.
Stieber scored early and often in the semifinal round and rolled to
a 9-1 major decision over Anthony Ashnault of Rutgers. Stieber then
took down second-seeded and third-ranked Devin Carter of Virginia
Tech in the finals, 12-3. The showdown was a rematch of last year’s
NCAA finals. He has now won all 10 of his matches by either major
decision, technical fall or fall this season. He was also selected as the
Most Valuable Wrestler.
Other individual standouts for the Buckeyes on Saturday included
third-place showings from Nathan Tomasello, Johnni DiJulius and Kyle
Snyder.
Seeded sixth at 125 pounds, Tomasello started his day with a
8-3 decision over Conor Youtsey of Michigan and then edged Ronnie
Bresser in the next consolation round, 4-3. He moved into the third
place match by upsetting fourth-seeded and seventh-ranked Josh
Martinez of Air Force, 6-2 and then rounded out the day with a 11-4
decision over Trey Andrew in the third place match. He is now 14-2 on
the year.
DiJulius, the defending champion at 133 pounds, had little trouble
through his first two consolation matches on Saturday, easily disposing
of Jade Rauser of Utah Valley, 19-3, and then taking out 12th-seeded
Ian Nickel of Cal State Bakersfield, 5-2. In the third consolation match
of the day, he edged fourth-seeded and 10th-ranked George DiCamillo
of Virginia, his second win over DiCamillo in the last two weeks. He
finished off his 5-0 day with a 9-0 major decision over fifth-seeded and
13th-ranked Earl Hall of Iowa State.
Snyder dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to second-seeded
and third-ranked Kyven Gadson of Iowa State in the semifinals,
but bounced right back to defeat Trent Noon by major decision and
advance to the third place match. In the match, he pulled away in the
third period for a 14-5 major decision over fifth-seeded and 18thranked Jace Bennett of Cornell. The true freshman is now 13-1 on the
season.
In a tightly contested, back-and-forth match, fifth-ranked Missouri
edged seventh-ranked Ohio State 20-19 on the fourth tiebreaker
criteria (first takedown of the first match) in front of 2,666 fans at St.
John Arena on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Buckeyes are 4-2
on the year while Missouri improves to 9-0.
With Ohio State leading the overall team score 19-16 and just the
285-pound match remaining, Missouri’s J’den Cox bumped up from
his usual position of 197 and wrestled the Buckeyes’ Nick Tavanello.
Cox, the reigning national champion at 197, defeated Tavanello 4-2 on
the strength of a third-period takedown. After being knotted on pins/
forfeits (1-1) and total match points (48-48), the tie was broken on
the first takedown of the first match, which went to Missouri’s Alan
Waters.
Sunday’s dual started at 125 pounds where third-ranked Alan
Waters earned an 11-8 decision over the Buckeyes’ Nathan Tomasello.
Waters jumped out to an early lead with a takedown and three-point
near fall in the first period, followed by a takedown with just two
seconds left in the second period.
At 133 pounds, Johnni DiJulius evened the match at three via a
5-2 decision over 16th-ranked Matt Manley. DiJulius raced out to a
4-0 lead on a takedown and reversal in the first two periods and then
gained an extra point on riding time.
At 157 pounds, Josh Demas returned to the lineup after being out
last week and proceeded to edge Joseph LaValle, 3-2. He scored his
points via a first-period takedown and second-period escape.

Top-ranked Iowa won the final four matches to rally past seventh-ranked Ohio State, 18-14, in wrestling action on Sunday afternoon in front of 6,558 fans at St. John Arena. The Hawkeyes improve
to 7-0 on the year (2-0 Big Ten) while the Buckeyes are 4-3 overall, 0-1
in the Big Ten.
Redshirt freshman Bo Jordan made his first appearance since the
beginning of November and quickly made up for lost time, notching
a 9-2 decision over seventh-ranked Nick Moore to give Ohio State a
14-8 lead in the overall team score. Iowa, however, responded with
decisions in the next four matches, including two that were decided by
a single point, to eke out the victory.
At 174 pounds, Mike Evans, ranked third nationally, started the
Iowa rally with a 5-2 decision over 12th-ranked Mark Martin. Evans
had a key reversal in the third period while holding a precarious
3-2 lead. In the next match at 184 pounds, Kenny Courts fell behind
against Sam Brooks 2-1 at the end of the first period and Brooks added
a third point with an escape in the second period. Courts cut the deficit
to 3-2 in the third on an escape but could get no closer.
The 197 pound match featured seventh-ranked Kyle Snyder against
sixth-ranked Nathan Burak. Snyder was changed with a stalling
warning late in the second period and Burak scored his only points on
escapes in the second and third periods, respectively.
Burak’s victory gave Iowa a 15-14 lead in the match and Bobby
Telford, ranked third nationally, defeated Nick Tavanello 4-0 in the final
match of the day at 285 pounds.
Seventh-ranked Ohio State won six of 10 matches, including momentum-swinging wins at 184 and 197 pounds, to knock off third-ranked
and defending national champion Penn State on Sunday in front of
6,109 fans at St. John Arena. With the win, Ohio State’s first over
Penn State since 2010, the Buckeyes improve to 5-3 and 1-1 in the Big
Ten. Penn State is 6-1, 2-1.
Holding a precarious 16-12 lead following a pin at 174 pounds by
fourth-ranked Matt Brown of Penn State, redshirt junior Kenny Courts
picked up a key 4-2 decision over Matt McCutcheon at 184 pounds
to give Ohio State a 19-12 advantage. Courts’ victory came on the
strength of an escape to start the third period, a takedown with 1:40
left and over two of riding time.
In the next match, 197 pounds, true freshman Kyle Snyder picked
up one of his most impressive wins of the season, knocking off fourthranked Morgan McIntosh, a reigning All-American, 6-1. Snyder, now
15-2 on the season, went ahead 1-0 early in the second period on an
escape and then scored a takedown with 45 seconds left in the period
for a 3-0 lead. Snyder notched one more takedown in the third period
and also racked up over two minutes of riding time for the final 6-1
decision.
Sunday’s win over Penn State marks the highest-ranked opponent
Ohio State has knocked off since a 21-9 victory over second-ranked
Iowa on Jan. 20, 2012.

Fourth-ranked Ohio State won six of 10 matches, including four by
bonus points, to secure a 25-13 victory over Michigan State Friday
evening at Jenison Field House in East Lansing.
The match started at 125 pounds where Nathan Tomasello got
rolling in the second period, extending a 3-2 first-period advantage to
a 14-6 lead after two periods. He then scored nine points in the third
period to gain the 25-9 technical fall victory. It was his third tech fall of
the season.
At 141 pounds, senior Logan Stieber needed just 3:09 to pin Terry
Turner. For Stieber, it was his sixth pin of the year and 14th via bonus
points. The senior from Monroeville, Ohio is now 14-0 on the season
and 104-3 in his career. The win gave Ohio State an 11-4 lead.
At 157 pounds, senior John Demas scored a takedown as the first
period expired and after a scoreless second period, start the third with
an escape. He added a late takedown and racked up well over two
minutes of riding time for a 6-0 decision. Demas is now 11-1 on the
year.
Bo Jordan continued the Buckeyes’ momentum at 165 pounds,
jumping out to a 4-2 first period lead and then extending his advantage
to 8-4 on a late takedown in the second period. He then scored nine
third-period points and totaled over two minutes in riding time. His
18-7 win gave Ohio State a 18-7 lead and upped his season record to
8-0.
Four bonus-point victories, including each of the first three matches,
lifted the fourth-ranked Ohio State wrestling team (7-3, 3-1) to a 25-15
victory over 16th-ranked Michigan (3-3, 1-2) in front of a sellout crowd
at Cliff Keen Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The match started at 125 pounds where seventh-ranked Nathan
Tomasello scored a major decision victory over Conor Youtsey, 16-7,
with a critical takedown late in the third period that secured the bonus
points for Ohio State. Tomasello also racked over a minute and a half
of riding time. Tomasello, who also had a technical fall on Friday at
Michigan State, is now 17-4 on the season.
At 133 pounds, redshirt junior Johnni DiJulius returned to lineup
after missing Friday’s match at Michigan State and showed no rust,
rolling to a 17-2 technical fall over Zebulon Hilyard. DiJulius led 9-2 at
the end of the first period that then secured the technical fall with an
escape, a takedown and five near-fall points in the second period.
Redshirt senior Logan Stieber continued his dominance at 141
pounds, needing just 1:31 to pin Michigan’s George Fisher. It is Stieber’s seventh pin of the season, (second of the weekend), improved
his season record to 15-0 and also gave Ohio State a 15-0 lead in the
match.

In front of a sellout crowd at Norwalk High School, the Ohio State
wrestling team used three pins and five wins via bonus points to roll
past Indiana, 31-13, on Friday evening. With the win, Ohio State is 8-3
overall (4-1 Big Ten) while Indiana falls to 2-6 (0-5 Big Ten).
Redshirt senior Logan Stieber, playing in front of friends and family
just six miles from his hometown of Monroeville, Ohio, was the star of
the night, earning his eighth pin of the year to send the sellout crowd
into frenzy at 141 pounds. Stieber needed just 2:14 to pin Indiana’s
Sean Brown. He moved to 16-0 on the year and 106-3 in his career.
The other key win for the Buckeyes came at 165 pounds where
redshirt freshman and fifth-ranked Bo Jordan came from behind to
defeated seventh-ranked Taylor Walsh is sudden victory overtime, 6-4.
Jordan trailed 4-2 late in the first period before a takedown tied the
score and then sealed the win with a takedown just 30 seconds into
the sudden victory period. Jordan improved to 10-0 this season.
At 184 pounds, Kenny Courts pinned Indiana’s Jake Masengale in
2:56, giving Ohio State a 9-4 lead just three matches into the dual. It
was Courts’ third pin of the year. In the next match at 197 pounds, true
freshman Kyle Snyder continued his stellar campaign with an 18-7
major decision over Luke Sheridan. A forfeit at 125 ponds gave Ohio
State a 19-7 lead in the match, and then Johnni DiJulius picked up his
team-leading 18th win of the year with a fall over Alonzo Shepherd in
4:27.
Pins by Logan Stieber and Bo Jordan, a technical fall by Nathan
Tomasello and major decisions from Kyle Snyder and Johnni DiJulius
led the fourth-ranked Ohio State wrestling team (9-3, 5-1 Big Ten)
to a convincing 31-9 victory over Maryland (5-11, 0-5) on Sunday at
the XFINITY Center in College Park. The Buckeyes have now won five
straight matches, their longest winning streak of the year.
The match started at 125 pounds and Nathan Tomasello got Ohio
State out to an early lead with a takedown and three-point near in
first in the first period. In the second, Tomasello continued to rack up
points with an escape, takedown and three-point nearfall. The match
ended in the third with a three-point near fall and riding time.
At 133 pounds, Johnni DiJulius led 4-2 after two period but pulled
away in the third for a 10-2 major decision. He put up his third-period
points with a takedown, three-point near fall and riding time. DiJulius
in the first Buckeye to reach the 20-win mark this year.
Senior Logan Stieber (17-0) made short work of Shyheim Brown at
141 pounds, picking up a fall in 2:54. For Stieber, it was his fifth pin
in the last 14 days. He currently leads the team with nine falls on the
year.
In the next match at 157 pounds, Randy Languis began the third
period trailing 1-0 but got an escape and a takedown for a 3-1 comefrom-behind victory. The win gave Ohio State a 18-0 lead in the match.

A technical fall at 165 pounds by Bo Jordan and a major decision at
197 pounds from Kyle Snyder allowed fourth-ranked Ohio State to pull
away for a 24-9 victory over No. 21 Purdue.
In addition to Jordan and Snyder’s wins, Ohio State also received
a key 6-0 decision from 13th-ranked Mark Martin at 174 pounds and
an 8-3 decision from No. 12 Kenny Courts at 184 pounds. In all, Ohio
State won seven of 10 matches.
The contest started at 125 pounds as Nathan Tomasello earned an
11-5 decision of Aaron Assad to register his 20th victory of the season.
Tomasello scored three first-period takedowns to jump out to a 6-3
lead and then took a 7-3 lead into the third period.
Johnni DiJulius made the score 6-0 thanks to his 4-0 victory over
14th-ranked and reigning Big Ten Wrestler of the Week Danny Sabatello at 133 pounds. DiJulius, who moved to 21-2 on the year, scored
his points on a takedown in the first period (2:15) and third period
(0:47).
Three-time national champion Logan Stieber kept his perfect 201415 record intact with a hard-fought 4-0 decision over Nick Lawrence at
141 pounds. Stieber scored points on a takedown in the second period,
escape in the third and riding time.
After Purdue won by decision at both 149 pounds and 157 pounds,
Jordan earned a key momentum-swinging technical fall at 165 pounds
to give the Buckeyes a 14-6 lead. He jumped out over Pat Robinson
early, taking a 7-0 lead after the first period and then finishing him off
with an impressive second period that saw six takedowns.
Trailing 14-5 following five matches, the fourth-ranked Ohio State
wrestling team stormed back to win four of the final five matches,
including three via tech fall, to secure a 23-17 victory over No. 22
Rutgers on Sunday in front of a sold-out crowd at the College Avenue
Gym. With the triumph, the Buckeyes extend their winning streak to
seven matches while improving to 11-3 overall (7-1 Big Ten). Rutgers is
11-6, 1-6.
The Buckeyes’ surge was highlighted by Bo Jordan (165 pounds),
Kenny Courts (184 pounds) and Kyle Snyder (197), who all earned tech
falls. Nathan Tomasello also started the match at 125 pounds with a
tech fall. Ohio State’s other win came from Mark Martin, who defeated 19th-ranked Phil Bakuckas, 8-2, at 174 pounds.
Tomasello got the Buckeyes out to a fast start, racking up points
early and often on his way to a 23-8 tech fall over Josh Patrick.
Tomasello, now 21-3 overall on the season, scored three takedowns in
the first period for a 7-3 lead and then three more in the second for a
13-6 advantage. He finished off the tech fall with an escape and three
more takedowns.
After intermission, Jordan got Ohio State back on the scoreboard
with a dominating 16-0 tech fall over Nick Visicaro. It was his second
tech fall of the weekend and highlighted by eight quick points in the
first period (takedown, two three-point near falls) and eight more in
the second (takedown, three-point near fall).

On a night when the Buckeyes honored 10 seniors, including threetime NCAA champion Logan Stieber, wins by a pair of freshman – and
Stieber – propelled fourth-ranked Ohio State to a 22-13 victory over
third-ranked Minnesota in front of 5,642 fans at The Jerome Schottenstein Center. Ohio State, which has now won eight straight matches,
improves to 12-3 overall, 8-1 in the Big Ten. Minnesota is 10-2, 6-2.
Friday’s win is the highest ranked opponent Ohio State has defeated since knocking off No. 2 Iowa, 21-9, on January 20, 2012. Overall,
the Buckeyes have defeated four teams currently ranked in the top
16 – No. 3 Minnesota, No. 5 Penn State, No. 12 Virginia and No. 16
Michigan.
Redshirt freshman Bo Jordan won his 14th straight match of the
season in impressive fashion, getting a fall in 4:46 over 17th-ranked
Nick Wanzek at 165 pounds to give the Buckeyes a 16-6 lead. For
Jordan, the performance built off last week’s showing that saw him
pick up technical falls in wins over Purdue and Rutgers.
With the dual meet hanging in the balance, true freshman Kyle
Snyder improved his record to 22-2 on the year with a 3-1 victory over
fifth-ranked Scott Schiller at 197 pounds. The most anticipated match
of the night, Snyder scored the winning takedown with under 10 seconds left in the third period.
Not to be outdone, Kenny Courts also picked up a critical victory at
184 pounds when he scored a last-second takedown in the third period
to secure a 3-1 win over No. 11 Brett Pfarr. The back-to-back victories
gave Ohio State a 22-9 lead in the match with just the 285 pound
match remaining.
