Community Announcements ∙ PTO Updates
Here is how it works – students ask family
and friends to sponsor their reading and fill
out the pledge sheet. Between February 8th
and 21st, the reading students do outside of
regular school hours counts toward the
read-a-thon. Students can gather pledges
anytime during the month of February, but
can only count the reading done between
the 8th and the 21st. All pledge sheets and
monies are due on March 2nd. If each
student gets $15 in pledges, we can raise
$9,750! All money goes toward field trips
and other hands on experiences for our
students. The elementary and middle
school student with the highest minutes and
the elementary and middle school student
with the highest amount of pledges will all
win a KINDLE FIRE! Look for more

Ms. McIntyre is an outstanding teacher
of math for our middle school
students. She utilizes the districts’ AGILE
mind math program to ensure that her
students are able to grasp basic
concepts in preparation for higher
math courses such as Algebra 1,
which is offered here at Waverly. Ms.
McIntyre has coach classes after
school and doesn’t stop until her kids
master a skill. She’s devoted to her
students’ academic success. Ms.
McIntyre also works with teachers on
staff to reach success as their BTU
representative.

The BEC would like to thank the over 350 participants who stood
up to budget cuts to Baltimore School at the Legislative Preview
hosted by Waverly School.
As many of you have seen, the proposed state budget for the
next fiscal year includes a severe cut of $35 million to the
Baltimore City Public Schools funding. The estimated impact of
the budget cuts could include the loss of 2 or more teachers per
school which would ultimately lead to even larger class sizes.
GHCC is leading an Annapolis Action Night February 9th. This will
be an opportunity for teachers, families and community
members to meet with legislators and express our concerns. Join
us and recruit 2-3 others, adults & students alike!
Logistics:
 TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED! Meet @ Cathedral of the
Incarnation at 5:00 pm sharp Monday Feb 9.
 We will provide everyone with dinner, BEC t-shirts and
stickers and an informative briefing on the drive down to
Annapolis.

Arriving in Annapolis, we will join part of the 43rd District
Night that is organized by our elected officials – Senator
Conway and Delegates McIntosh, Anderson and
Washington and Senate President Miller.

We will return to Baltimore by 9:30pm
