My personal experiences using the Wireless Accessories
There are three new Wireless Accessories. I have personally used all three for some time as I was privileged to
be part of user acceptance testing at Cochlear prior to their release. I have put this document together to
hopefully help other recipients thinking about purchasing a Wireless Accessory.
Cochlear Wireless Mini Microphone
The Mini Microphone gives you the freedom to hear clearly no matter where you are. From lecture halls to oneon-one conversations, use the portable wireless clip-on microphone to transmit clear speech and sound directly
to your sound processor.
Faye’s personal experience: The Mini Microphone is a great small clip on device that allows you to hear better
over a distance and in noisy places. You give the Mini Microphone to the person you want to listen to and ask
them to position it close to their mouth by clipping it on their clothing, pocket, collar or shirt using the clip on the
back. Alternatively you can use a neck cord to hang it around their neck. Once the person has the Mini
Microphone in position and turned on, you then activate streaming on your Processor/s via a LONG PRESS on
your T-Coil button or you can activate it via your Remote Assistance STREAM screen. It is easy to use and the
sound quality and clarity is very good. It also has a Volume Control on the Mini Mic itself if you need it.
I have used the Mini Mic for all sorts of listening situations. I have used it at restaurants, coffee shops, even
walking down the street next to someone. I have used it in shopping centres and at festival events when walking
around with my brother. It is also good when travelling in the car, bus or train with a friend so you don’t miss out
on the conversation. It can be used at meetings and even at the gym when you are doing a gym class. Just give
your trainer your Mini Mic and you won’t miss a thing.
It can also be used to stream music or audio directly to your Sound Processor/s. You can insert an audio cable
into the Mini Mic Line-In jack at the bottom of the Mini Mic and the other end into your audio out of your audio
device, iPod, Walkman, Computer, MP3 player or hi-fi. If you use Skype on your computer, then you can use
the Mini Mic with your Computer or for listening to You Tube or Podcasts as well. It does work really well.
Another possibility is to place the Mini Mic in front of the speaker on your TV and it will also give you a better
signal when listening to the TV. This can help if you are going away for the weekend and staying at a friend’s
house or at a Motel without the need to connect gadgets. Yes, the TV Streamer Accessory is probably the best
for home, but if you only want to purchase the Mini Microphone, then you can still achieve improved hearing with
the mini mic to hear your TV as well.
The Mini Mic can be used with both the big CR230 Remote Assistant and the small CR210 Remote Control.
I find that the Mini Microphone battery lasts for about 8 hours of use, but if I use it during the day, I normally put it
on to recharge overnight so it is ready with a full charge for the next day.
You do need to be in line of sight of the person wearing the Mini Mic Clip and Cochlear says it works up to 7
metres in distance, but I have found it to work much further distances fairly well.
It provides easy listening and a very good clarity of speech and sound. I actually like the product.
In order to purchase the Mini Microphone or find out the price, you need to contact your Cochlear Clinic.
Note: you will need a software upgrade on your Nucleus 6 processor/s and remote at the time of purchasing this
product.

Cochlear Wireless Phone Clip
I absolutely LOVE THIS!!!!
Bluetooth-enabled wireless gives you control over your smartphone device. The Phone Clip gives you a handsfree connection to friends and family using your smartphone. With Bluetooth technology, place and receive calls
and adjust volume at the touch of a button.
Faye’s personal experience: The Phone Clip is amazing. Just Love it !
… and like all gadgets, now I can’t live without it .
I use a Samsung Galaxy Smart phone, and it works perfectly with the Phone Clip. I also know others that use
iPhones and they love using the Phone Clip as well. It is just like using the Bluetooth in your car, but better. I
loved the Bluetooth in my car, it was perfect (well I thought it was), but since getting the Cochlear Phone Clip I
now use the Phone Clip to answer calls where ever I am.
How often do you get an important Mobile Phone call when you are at the shops, or a noisy restaurant and you
just can’t hear the person on the other end. Well with the Phone Clip, you just pair it with your Mobile and then
you can use it to answer a call and enjoy hands-free calling direct to your Sound Processor or better still to both
of your Processors at the same time if you are bilateral. No more of just hearing the phone with one ear for me.
Having a direct signal to both Sound Processors gives me an amazing sound quality and great clarity. It works
very well and I absolutely love it.
With the Cochlear Phone Clip I don’t have trouble hearing people on my mobile anymore. When I get up in the
morning, I put on my watch, and my processors, and my phone clip on a neck loop around my neck and pretty
much it stays on me all day.
I actually place the phone clip on my charger each night when I put my Mobile phone on the charger next to it.
Then it is ready for my next adventure the next day. Cochlear says it will provide 6 hours of talk time or 80 hours
of standby time from a full charge. It really has amazing sound quality and you can use it for hands-free calling,
you can use it with Bluetooth enabled navigation systems and stream music from a bluetooth enabled device to
it.
Now…if you buy the Phone Clip and for example the TV Streamer, and you are streaming to watch TV and a
Mobile Phone call comes in, then the Phone Clip will take priority and enable and mute the TV streamer. So you
don’t miss a call. When your Mobile phone rings, you also hear the ringing tone directly in your Processor/s.
Also when you get an SMS, it does give a couple of beeps in your processor/s, which I actually find useful as it
makes me aware that I have just received an SMS message where otherwise I often miss hearing that I have
received an SMS.
In order to purchase the Phone Clip or find out the price, you need to contact your Cochlear Clinic.
Note: you
will need a software upgrade on your Nucleus 6 processor/s and remote at the time of purchasing this product.

Cochlear Wireless TV Streamer
Crisp, clear stereo sound directly from your TV. With the TV Streamer, you don’t have to choose between your
favourite TV show and taking part in conversation. You get a balanced experience, with sound from the TV
streamed directly to your sound processor while you’re still switched on to what’s going on around you
Faye’s personal experience: The TV Streamer works well and gives a very clear signal from the TV directly to
your sound processor/s. You can enjoy high quality streamed audio direct to your sound processor/s from your
TV, stereo, computer or other similar device.
It supports digital input and reconnects automatically if you leave the room and return within 5 minutes.
The benefit of the TV Streamer is that you install it and forget it – then just click on a button to watch TV.
The actual TV Streamer plugs into an ordinary wall power socket and plugs directly into your audio device. The
TV Streamer will stream stereo sound through your sound processors from up to 7 metres away. I can be in my
kitchen cooking dinner and have the news streaming directly to my processors from my family room with no
problem at all. Another benefit is if you are using the TV Streamer you can adjust your own volume on the
streamer and set it and leave it and others watching the TV can set the TV volume to suit without affecting you.
I did find I needed to adjust my ADVANCED SETTINGS on my Remote for ACCESSORIES MIX from 3:1 to 1:1
ratio so that I could hear my family talking whilst streaming the TV direct to my processors but this is a personal
choice. Speak to your Audiologist if you need help doing this.
Bilateral recipients should preferably use the Stereo position on the TV Streamer, and Unilateral recipients should
set the TV Streamer to Mono position.
In order to purchase the TV Streamer or find out the price, you need to contact your Cochlear Clinic.
Note:
you will need a software upgrade on your Nucleus 6 processor/s and remote at the time of purchasing this
product.
