About the workshop
The workshop will be useful for the post - graduate students of Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering and Production Engineering to have a better understanding of
the current state-of-the-art with respect to the analyses and design of machine foundations.
The key concepts and terminology will be explained and emphasis will be placed on the
practical applications, including major provisions of the international codes and practices.
A certificate will be awarded to the participants.
Course Contents
Industrial facilities in Process and Power Industry employ various types of machines such as
Pumps, Fans, Blowers, Compressors and Power Generators. Foundations for such machines
are subjected to a loading of dynamic nature and the responses are dependent on the dynamic
properties of the soil and foundations systems. The course will focus on analyses and design
for such foundations. Emphasis will be laid on the practical aspects including understanding
of the manufacturer’s load information (Vendor drawings), initial sizing considerations for
foundations, requirements of anchoring and grouting and other aspects.
