SENIORS
SENIORS: If you have not ordered your Cap and Gown, please go into Activities to pick up a form as soon
as possible.
SENIORS: Bring a copy of your college acceptance letters to the ASG box in the front office so that you
can be recognized for all your hard work.
SENIORS PLANNING TO ATTEND MOORPARK COLLEGE NEXT YEAR SAVE THE DATE:
Moorpark College Meeting- March 17th, PAC at 8:30am. Moorpark College Fieldtrip – May 8th, buses
leave at 8:30 am. On March 17th a representative from Moorpark College will be meeting with all seniors
who plan to attend next year. This meeting will take place in the PAC at 8:30am. Seniors will learn the
step by step process on how to apply and be given important information about the Moorpark College
preview day field trip, planned for Friday, May 8th. This is a mandatory meeting if you plan to attend the
fieldtrip. March 17th is a late start day. We will write passes for all students who have a 1st period class. If
you have any questions, please see Ms. Drossin in the Counseling Office.
NPHS Panther Scholarships: Now open to all NPHS seniors. The Panther Scholarship program is a pool
of more than 25 scholarships offered exclusively to NPHS graduating seniors by alumni, school and
community organizations. With a single application, students can apply to any number of scholarships
listed in the program. Students can access the online application by logging onto their “learn.conejousd.net”
e-mail accounts. Deadline is March 18.
Summer Opportunity: California State Parks. Job Locations: Point Mugu, Leo Carillo and Malibu State
Parks. Application info: www.spb.ca.gov
Financial Aid/FAFSA and Other Scholarships. FAFSA: If you are applying for financial aid at any
college, you must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on or before March 2, 2015.

Naviance or the NPHS CCC website.

Hot Stuff!
THE PANTHER PROWLER is doing a T-shirt Drive to turn old t-shirts into reusable tote bags. There is
a box placed in the office where you can drop off any used T-shirts.
All Juniors who selected ROP courses during your registration with your counselor, please stop by the
office to pick up a parent form.
THE THOUSAND OAKS TEEN CENTER offers FREE math tutoring Mondays & Thursdays, 45:30pm. Our tutors can help with just about any aspect or level of math, including test prep, homework and
skill enhancement. Just drop in to receive tutoring. First come, first served. For more information, please
call the Teen Center at 805 494-5156.
PI DAY. Come to the quad at lunch on March 13th for a pre-pi day event! Pie your favorite teacher for
only $1!!
NPHS JAZZ FESTIVAL FEATURES TWO HEADLINER CONCERTS on March 13th and 14th in the
NPHS PAC. The 7th Annual Newbury Park Jazz Festival allows Middle and High School jazz musicians
from throughout Southern California to showcase their talents. On the eve before the Festival on Friday,
March 13th at 8pm, the John Daversa Small Band will demonstrate its easy transition between sections of
incredible sensitivity to vignettes of intensity rivaling that of many big bands. On Saturday, March 14th, a
noontime concert will feature The Aaron Serfaty Trio with Otmaro Ruiz and Darek Oles. Tickets for
Friday’s concert and Saturday’s all-day festival (including clinics, competitions, and the noontime concert)
are available for $10 each at the door and online at www.npjazzfestival.org. All proceeds support the
NPHS Instrumental Music Department.
THE NPHS STRING ORCHESTRA is celebrating International Week this year with a themed concert
focusing on Chinese music. The orchestra will be performing on stage with the Thousand Oaks Chinese
Fold ensemble and Chinese choir, and there will also be a demonstration of every Chinese instrument. The
concert will take place on Saturday, March 7 at 3:30 p.m. in the NPHS Performing Arts Center. Admission
is free.
ATTENDANCE: Student’s attendance history can be monitored via q connect. This is a great way to make
sure that absences are cleared in a timely manner and tardy issues can be addressed early on. As a reminder,
please remember to call the attendance hotline to clear your child’s absence within 72 hours.










TEACHERS: Don’t forget to give your aspiring students who score 100% or higher on their test a ticket
for a chance to be named the next Purrrfect Panther. This is a drawing once a month!
FRONT DESK: Reminder to all students. No instruments or sports equipment, including cheer equipment
will be allowed to be dropped off or stored in the lobby. We will not be responsible for them. You must
make arrangements before the start of school to store these in a class.
LOST & FOUND: Students are responsible for checking the lost and found located in front of the office
outside the Counseling doors for any misplaced items. Please note that all found wallets, electronics and
jewelry should be turned into the Receptionist in the front office. All items not claimed will be donated at
the end of every month.
SCHOOL CENTS IS EARNING FOR OUR SCHOOL! Earn points for your school from shopping at
your favorite store! Bring all your receipts from September 1st until April 30th. We are now including
FARMERS MARKET receipts!!! Earn 500 points when you follow The Oaks on Instagram/OaksMall.
Earn 500 points per person when you sign in at Kids Club. Earn 2,000 points when you adopt a pet from
Paw Works by April 30. Bring your receipts to the front office or take them over to the customer service
kiosk at the Oaks Mall located near the Cheesecake Factory. If you would like your receipts back, just put a
note on your envelope or the envelopes we provide in the office and we will be sure to return them to you!
At What’s Coming Up!
SPECIAL OLYMPICS: Newbury Park High School is hosting the Special Olympics on Saturday, May
2nd. We are in need of students and clubs to help with this event. Not only do you get volunteer hours, but
you also gain wonderful memories. Got to Room E-5 for more information.
UNDER THE RAINBOW 2 – A St. Patrick’s Day Dance will be held Friday, March 13. The dance
features DJ DWreck and our own Grunge Rock Band, Paper. Tickets will be sold in Room B-2 this
Wednesday through Friday and on the quad starting next week. Get yours now – only $12 in advance
which includes pizza! Don’t miss it! Sponsored by NPHS-GSA.
CELEBRATE ST. PATRICK’S DAY by dressing up for Green Day on March 17th.
PENNY WARS: Go to the quad from March 9-15 to donate money for Penny Wars. First Place will
receive $700, second will get $150, third will get $100 and fourth will get $50. Pennies will get positive
points and everything turns into negative points for your class. All money will be donated to The Water
Project.
PROM 2015 “The Victory Ball”: Will be on April 18 at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios. Tickets
are now on sale, online only for $95. Sales in the student store will begin March 9th at lunch only. You
must have a parent permission form signed to attend. Pick up a form in the student store or Activities
Office. For detailed information, go to nphs.org and look under the PROM heading.
2015 NPHS AFTER PROM PARTY TICKET SALES. Before you can purchase tickets to the after
prom party, you need to obtain the After Prom Party permission slip online at www.nphs.org (you can find
this in the bottom right margin on our home page) or from Kathy Barker in the Activities Office.
Tickets will be on sell for those students who only wish to go to the After Prom Party. For those of you
going to the prom your prom ticket purchase INCLUDES the After Prom Party. We will be selling tickets
on the quad near the student store on March 18th, 20th, 24th, 26th , April 2nd,14th and April 17th at lunch time.
They also will be sold April 14th and April 17th from 9:45 to 10:15 am. Pre-sale Tickets cost $20.00 and at
the door tickets will cost $30.00. Please contact Lisa Rogers (805-207-0766) with any questions you may
have.

CLUBS PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETE A MARQUEE REQUEST FOR YOUR CLUB EVENTS AND
SUBMIT THEM TO MRS. SMILOR IN COUNSELING.
 TEACHERS FOR TOMORROW: Have you ever thought about being a teacher? There is a new club
on campus for NPHS students who are interested in the teaching profession. Please join us on Thursdays at
lunch in Room D27. All are welcome.
 FIDM FASHION CLUB: Come join the FIDM Fashion Club every Thursday at lunch in C27 to meet
other fashion hopefuls and make new friends. Come experience all things fashion!
 HARRY POTTER ALLIANCE: Come join the Harry Potter Alliance to be a part of a real life
Dumbledore’s army and combat the forces of evil in today’s society. We meet on Thursdays in room B21.
 NPMTBC: Newbury Park Mountain Bike Club meets in Mr. Atkins room every other Wednesday. Join us!
 RECYCLING CLUB: is earning money for NPHS clubs and sports! Make sure to recycle your cans and
bottles in the bins across campus. Applications for monthly earnings can be found in Mrs. Barker’s office.
Please do not throw trash in the bins designated for recycling.
 G.S.A.: The Gay-Straight Alliance meets every Friday at lunch in room B2. Please join us. Everyone is
welcome!
 INTERACT CLUB: Invites you to join them every Monday at lunch in the GAR.
 AMERICAN COMPUTER SCIENCE LEAGUE CLUB: Come join the computer Science Club to learn
and show off your problem solving skills and compete in the ACSL competition! Meet us on Tuesdays in
room E2.



AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY: Welcomes you to meet with them every other Friday. Refreshments
provided.
SPEECH & DEBATE: Come join Speech and Debate! It meets every Wednesday at lunch in Mrs.
Altmire’s room D-20 upstairs in the D building.
FRENCH CLUB: French Club meets during lunch in B-29. Join us!

MARCH MADNESS: 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament at the Borchard Community Center on March 21st. Team
check in at 9:30am and game play begins at 10am. Cost is $40 per team (3-4 players). For more information, call

ATTENTION SENIOR ATHLETICS: If you are playing collegiate sports at a 4-year University next year,
please stop by the Athletics Office and let us know. We would like to honor you at our signing day luncheon next
week!
