We are glad you came to join with us in our worship today. We hope that you have felt God’s love in a new, refreshing way… From Fr. Tony This weekend’s Gospel is about the Transfiguration. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago in the bulletin, I will be working the TEC Retreat (March 21-23) in Bird Island this year as the spiritual director. If anyone is interested, or has questions, do not hesitate to talk to me. Although this Gospel is usually the one for that TEC weekend, this year the retreat takes place a few weeks later. Nonetheless, I would like to share how God works in our lives. As we heard this weekend’s Gospel, Jesus shared and revealed something amazing to Peter, James, and John. He gave them a glimpse of His divinity. Not only were they mesmerized by what they saw and witnessed, but they did not want to leave that place. However, at Mass we experience something more special than what they saw. We not only see Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, but we also are able to receive Him, but sadly we oftentimes ignore our blessed experience. For some of us, we ignore or even avoid this experience altogether by not coming to Mass. For example, Our Lady of Victor has 258 parishioners, but on average our weekend attendance is only 150. St. Anne’s has 672 parishioners, but on average our weekend attendance is only 272. St. Mary’s has 239 parishioners, but on average our weekend attendance is only 103. St. Mathias has 290 parishioners but on average our weekend attendance is only 124. Although I am grateful that people are coming, our numbers show that our churches should be fuller. The reason I am bringing this up is because this past week I attended a workshop at Pastoral Leader Days that talked about Evangelization. We heard about the importance of getting the message of God’s love out there. “Evangelization is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelize, that is to say, in order to preach and teach, to be the channel of the gift of grace, to reconcile sinners with God, and to perpetuate Christ's sacrifice in the Mass, which is the memorial of His death and glorious resurrection.” (Evangelii Nuntiandi #14) Therefore, all of us, not just priests, are to evangelize. As Catholics, we are so blessed to have Jesus in our midst in the Eucharist, every weekend and every day for that matter. Our vocation (our calling) is to be holy. One of those ways we can be holy is to be excited about our Lord’s presence and to invite others to Him. Please join me as we continue to evangelize and fill the Church with His people. God-willing, we will have a full Church praising God and heralding St. Peter’s proclamation as well, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here!” (Mk 9:5) In Christ through His Mother, Fr. Tony STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE St. Anne St. Mary OLV St. Mathias Adult $ 3,255.00 $ 565.00 $ 786.00 $ 1,192.00 Children $ 23.25 $ 3.50 $ 11.00 $ .00 Plate $ 83.00 $ 48.75 $ 56.00 $ 34.00 Stewardship: “It is easy to say, “Here I am, Lord,” when we are kneeling in church. Can we just as easily answer, “Here I am, Lord.” When we go home, when a neighbor needs our help, when a fellow parishioner asks us to join a committee, or when a letter asks for our financial help? These are often exactly the places where Jesus calls us to be.” SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT “That man is truly humble who converts humiliation into humility. – St. Bernard LIGHT LINERS “Take time to laugh for it is the music of the soul.” PRAYING FOR VOCATION “We are encouraged to listen to Jesus, the Beloved Son of God. First Annual Capital Campaign Dinner Planned Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 19, when the first annual Capital Campaign Dinner, “Building Together for God’s Children”, will take place. The purpose of the campaign is to raise funds for capital expenditures relating to school building maintenance and improvements. Three improvements have been targeted: building accessibility improvements, bathroom renovations, and re-tuckpointing of exterior masonry. “Wild, Wild West” is the theme so shine up your boots and buckles, saddle on up and ride out for a rootin’tootin’ good time. A prime rib dinner with all the fixin’s will be served alongside a little hootin’ and hollerin’ entertainment, followed by both a silent and live auction. The roundup will be held at the Wabasso Community Center with social hour beginning at 5:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased for $75 per person by givin’ us a holler at the school office - 507-342-5389. If you are not able to attend but are interested in supporting our cause, consider making a contribution to the silent or live auction. St. Anne’s has nurtured thousands of children in their faith and academics throughout the years. Through this annual campaign, we hope to ensure that thousands more may have the opportunity to “Enter to learn Christ, and Exit to serve Christ”. Recent fundraising has been a huge success. Income from the Catholic Schools Week Carnival totaled $7367. Expenses were $885, leaving a profit of $6482. These funds help to cover general school operating costs. A special thank you to the carnival chairs, Bob and Rindy Filzen and John and Nicole Deprez. The Blujet basketball tournament was also a huge success. Income from the tournament was $3272 with expenses at $250. Profit from this event was $3022. These funds are used to cover expenses related to field trips, lyceums, and of course, the much needed new basketball uniforms purchased this year. Thanks to chairs Mary Franta and Rindy Filzen, coaches and all those who helped to make these events a success. We are so blessed with your generosity. God bless, Mary Franta, Principal 10th Grade will be taking part in the liturgy at St. Anne’s on Sunday, March 8th. Please mark your calendars. SPRING 40 DAYS FOR LIFE CAMPAIGN THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF ABORTION Please consider making the 2015 Spring 40 Days For Life Campaign from Feb. 18 through March 29, 2015 a part of your Lenten experience. The 40 Days For Life Campaign is firmly rooted on a foundation of prayer and fasting. We fervently believe that prayer and fasting will end abortion and your prayers will be very much needed and appreciated. With each campaign, God continues to answer our prayers by saving babies and closing abortion facilities. Since 40 Days For Life Campaigns began in 2007, 9699 babies have been saved from abortion, 107 abortion workers have quit, and 60 abortion facilities have closed. Locations in MN to pray outside of an abortion facility during this Spring campaign are in Robbinsdale, Rochester and St. Cloud, and in SD, Sioux Falls.
