counted 29 Lions in attendance. We had Venison, bear sausage, 4 selections of chili including
venison and elk, caviar from this years sturgeon, goose stew and we all got to sip some home made
moonshine. Camaraderie took place and a good time was had. We had a short meeting to vote for
Birch Sturm and Melvin Jones awards. The club also voted to hold the CAR SHOW on Sunday July
26th. Lion Brian S. is the chairman. He has booked the Del Rays for this function. More to follow.
Club members bowled in Eldorado for the 27-B1 District tournament. Team Schumacher placed 5th
and team Schmid placed 7th. Feb. 28th and March 1st, 8 Lions and Lioness will be competing
in the Lions State Bowling Tournament. We will be there for the opening ceremonies at 12:00 on

Park Reservations - Call Lion Walt (688-2496) for details.
Note from Lioness President Barb:
Hello Lion and Lioness, What a busy meeting we had last Monday evening! Many
things on our plates, but I know we'll do just fine! Bowling in Burlington will hopefully
get us going in the right direction to help the Lions with the 2016 State Bowling
Tournament. We might even bowl decent and make a name for Van Dyne; let's hope so! Let's
all pray for warmer weather; this is getting old! Keep warm; roaring helps!
Lioness Barb
Lioness Notes from February:
Constitution will be discussed and any changes will be voted on at the March meeting.
Nominations were turned in and the nominees will be called on to see if they will accept the
nomination. For those not at the meeting and you want to nominate someone for office,
please call someone on the nomination committee who are Lioness Cindy, Bonnie, or Carol
B.
Scholarship information was sent out to 10 high schools in the area. They are due back by
April 11. Each club will be selecting a recipient and will be giving $750 each. Lioness Julie
Aigner was added to the scholarship committee.
Small Town Band. We need some ideas and you do the calling and get back to us so we
can vote by next meeting. Lioness Peggy checked on the SCAMPS band (the band that
played at the Lion/Lioness Christmas party) but they are elderly and it would be too long a
day. There is a call in to Page Four and Lioness Carla has a band in mind. Get back to the
Board by March 9.
Small Town Themes were brought up. If you have an idea, call Lioness Marge by March 9
and your idea will be added to the list. The board will go over the suggestions and consider a
few of them for consideration so they can be voted upon.
Country Breakfast – Voted to raise the price because the price of food have gone up to:
Adults – Advance - $7 At the Door $8
Child – Advance - $4 At the Door $5
Three and under Free
Spring raffle – Lioness Cindy Rank and Lioness Nicole Brey on the committee and they will
submit ideas at the March 9 Board meeting. Drawing will go back on the day of the Walleye
Tournament which is May 30.
Spring Affiliate Banquet June 14 – Committee-Lionesses Bonnie, Barb, Sandy, Carla and
Marge. Food prices have been discussed and a theme. Further information will be coming.
Special Olympics – April 11 – If you plan to help out that day (and you feel very good to be
there helping out), call Lioness Marge so Chair Ken Wallander can be notified of who is
attending.
State Convention – May 14-16 – The Abbey Resort Fontana - See your Wisconsin Lion for
further information. Cut off dates for motels is March 30 for some and April 13 for others.
For Registration fees: April 17 for reduced prices. May 14 is for golfing. Friday, May 15 for
meeting other Lion and Lioness and a keynote speaker at the luncheon of overcoming
adversity through the use of a positive attitude and self-acceptance. Lion and Lioness...you
should attend. Sounds interesting. 27-A1 Lions, Lioness, and Leos welcome you to the 2015
Wisconsin Lions State Convention held at the beautiful 90 acre Lake Geneva hotel property.
Ask someone who has attended in the past to fill you in on some of the details.
Birch Sturm Fellowship – A purple colored sheet was handed out at the February meeting
for you to nominate a Birch Sturm Fellowship for one of your members. If you didn't get one
at the meeting, you should be getting one along with this newsletter or sent or given
separately so you all have a chance to nominate. You can turn them in at the March meeting
or definitely by the April 27 meeting. After that, they won't be accepted. Page 3
SMALLTOWN 2015
Committees are starting on Small Town. Before we know it, August will be here. People have
suggested different bands. Call them and find out if they are available for August 16 from 1 – 5 and the
price. Let Lioness Barb or Lioness Marge know by March 23, their general meeting night. The Lions
are working on the reduction of the loudness of the bands so people can talk while the music is playing.
Theme: Needed.
Spring raffle for Lioness
If you have an idea for the raffle, inform the board before the March 9 Lioness Board meeting. Do
you have an idea of what we can do? Maybe some unique item or 50/50 raffle. The Lioness would
keep half of the profit and the other half distributed among several winners. Certain percentage of half
of it will be divided between maybe a certain number of winners. That way the winners can go and
buy something they actually need or want. So start thinking about ideas. We need a good raffle. If we
are going to do it, we have to get the tickets out. Decided that the final sale will be at the Walleye
Tournament.
COUNTRY BREAKFAST – May 17 – The Lioness members voted to raise prices to:
Adult - Advance $7.00
At the door - $8
Child 4 – 10 Advance $4
At the door - $5
3 and under free
Tickets will be available by the end of March.
Egg cartons you can start saving. We use them for packing up the eggs if there are any left.

A card was sent to former Lions member LeRoy (Jiggs) Heller as he has been treated at Mercy
Medical Center in Oshkosh since February 16 with medication issues. He will be a patient there for a
few more weeks to get him back on schedule. He was taken out of ICU on Friday, Feb .27th and is now
on the Patient Care floor. He has a long road of healing ahead of him.
There are a few members or family members dealing with health issues. Lioness Kathy Aigner is
having back problems and has been told back surgery will be scheduled. Lioness Nancy Krumbein's
husband Del will be having his surgery as soon as he can get healthy. Others members are going to
therapy and we wish them all a speedy recovery. Take care. All of you!
Congratulations to Lioness Sandy Muche and husband Don who became great grand parents 3 times
within about 9 weeks. Lioness Sandy writes: Peyton Fay Loehr was born to our granddaughter
Jessica (husband Luke) Loehr on November 25, 2014. Noelle Dawn Scharf was born to our
granddaughter Jennifer (husband Josh) Scharf on February 2, 2015, and Easton Phillip Mathwig was
born to our granddaughter Rachael (husband Phil) Mathwig on February 23, 2015. What fun at family
get togethers to have 3 little ones about the same age. Precious!

Twenty members attended the February 23 meeting. Money raffle was $10. Lioness Roma's name was
drawn first and being absent, the next name was Lioness Cindy Rank and she took home the winning
$10. Thank you from the birthday girls who treated the members to angel food cake, strawberries and
ice cream. They were Lionesses Kathy Aigner, Bonnie Hughes, Marge Werner, and Barb Leichtfuss. It
was very refreshing.
SALVATION ARMY RESULTS
Submitted by Lioness Peggy
West Door kettle collected was $460.94
East Door kettle collected was $137.17
Total collected
$598.11 Last year $1008.76 was collected. It was reported that
Fond du lac hit the goal they wanted for 2014 but they can always use more.
Again, thank everyone who rang the bells. If a person can be by each door for the full day, it seems
that more is collected; otherwise people just walk past. See what you can do next year.
Thank you notes:
Tom and Lois Priebe – Just a little note to say...Hello! You're in my thoughts today. Your gift of the
poinsettia was completely unexpected but Tom and I want to thank all of you.
Art and Kathy Aigner – Thank you. It was nice of you to remember my husband and I with the
beautiful poinsettia plant. When I seen Julie take it home, I said, “What are you doing with that plant?'
Julie said “I have to deliver it to someone.” Well, I thought it over and said, “Could that be for Mom
and Dad?” Julie said “Yes. How could you ever guess?” Pretty obvious. Well, thanks again.
Jayne Hintzman – Van Dyne Lioness – Thank you for the gift of the cookbook. I've been looking
through it and I can't wait to try some of the recipes! Thanks for all you do! Husband Mark
Hintzmann was a guest at our November 13 fish fry and a cookbook was given at that time. Page 5
