Greetings:
CONGRATULATIONS to the Senior Boys Basketball Team on their second place finish at the Vancouver
Island Championships held in the KSS gym this past weekend. The team will be heading to the Provincial
Championship in Langley next week for the first time in over 15 years! Great effort from the boys,
congratulations to Coaches Butch Gayton and Barry Bevilacqua on the accomplishment. A big thank you to the
school and all the staff who helped with the organization of a very successful tournament. Good luck to our
team at Provincials!
CONGRATULATIONS to the KSS Jazz Bands as well on a very successful trip to Moscow Idaho and their
participation at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. I was lucky enough to accompany the band and be a part of
a very educational and rewarding experience for our students. The bands played fabulously. Congratulations
and a big thank you to Music Directors Dave Stewart and Dan Craven on all the accomplishments of their
groups.
Please note that Interim Reports will be ready for all students on March 4th. Instead of being handed a paper
report, we will be continuing to use the program called Simplegradebook. We will be handing out instructions to
students again this week regarding how to use this site. If you have any questions, please call and I can walk
you through the sign up. The link is also on our website. Please check the grades and book appointments
to see your child’s teachers about progress in their course work. The KSS website link is now open to
book appointments for Thursday March 5 between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm and Friday March 6 between 9:00am
and 12:00pm. Please book a time to discuss your child’s progress.
Counsellors are busy visiting classrooms and completing course selections with students. Please review their
choices with your child. It is very important that students make the right choice as the school’s timetable will be
built based on those selections. Course selection forms are due now and need to be returned to the
counselling office as soon as possible. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have these forms in and
as accurate as possible. The district is trying to offer many unique programs, if you are interested in learning
more about these programs please contact your counsellor or myself for more information.
I would like to wish Brad Wilson and his KSS Japanese students a great upcoming trip and thank him for
bringing another group to Japan to visit our sister school, Aichi Keisei High School. I am fortunate enough to
have the opportunity to travel with Mr. Wilson again. I am very much looking forward to seeing our friends in
Japan. Wish us all a safe trip and good times.
Reminder that Spring Break is quickly approaching. The last day of classes before the break is Friday, March
13 and we return March 30th. If you have any comments or concerns please contact me at: (250)752-5651
extension 102.
Sincerely,
Jesse Witte
