As of March 23, the buyer’s identification (BID) card previously required to purchase vehicles from our five Ohio locations
is no more. This removes many obstacles for our customers, including submitting a DMV application, $35 fee and credit
report, as well as the investigation period for out-of-state licensed dealers.
Going forward, only an IAA registration is necessary to buy in Ohio, although some purchasing rules remain in place. The
state limits unlicensed buyers and businesses, including members of the general public, to a maximum of five vehicles per
calendar year, while licensed salvage dealers and dismantlers, junk yards, scrap metal processing facilities, used-vehicle
dealers and automotive recyclers can make unlimited purchases.
