Tranchant were in Accra from 17 to 20 March to discuss
research instruments and prepare data collection for
the DFID funded project ‘Domestic Violence in Ghana:
Prevalence, Incidence and Causes’.
Jaideep Gupte is in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 21 to
23 March and then in Delhi, from 23 to 26, to take part
in the final dissemination meetings for the DfID funded
project ‘Informal Work and Wellbeing in Urban South
Asia’.
Dolf te Lintelo is in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 19 to
23 March and then in Delhi from 23 to 26 March, to
take part in the final dissemination meetings for the
DfID funded project ‘Informal Work and Wellbeing in
Urban South Asia’.
Natalia Lorenzoni was in Paris on 20 March to attend
an EADI ExCo meeting.
Miquel Loureiro is with his Ghanaian, Kenya, South
African and Tanzanian colleagues in Nairobi, on the
27 to 28 March, co-designing their research project on
the politics of universal public services under the Making
All Voices Count programme.
Allister McGregor and Tina Nelis are in Delhi, from
21 to 26 March to take part in the final dissemination
meetings for the DfID funded project ‘Informal Work
and Wellbeing in Urban South Asia’.
Kat Pittore and Ewan Robinson will be travelling to
Dar es Salaam from 27 March to 3 April, to facilitate a
meeting on Strengthening agri-value chains for
nutrition.
Keetie Roelen is in Bujumbura, Burundi, from 15 to
23 March, to work with partners on the Concern
Worldwide Burundi Graduation programme evaluation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced external affairs officer to
join the Institute of Development Studies’ (IDS) dynamic Communications
and Engagement Unit.
EXTERNAL VACANCIES
Liaising closely with the Communications and Engagement Manager they
will help coordinate the Institute’s engagement with external stakeholders
including donors,research partners, UK parliamentarians and political
parties, EU and UN institutions,donors, think tanks, NGOs, academia and
the media, and help position IDS as a key opinion former around its three
priority areas – reducing inequalities, accelerating environmental
sustainability and fostering inclusive and secure societies. They will also
support the Development Office and Partnerships and Fundraising
Manager in identifying, maintaining and building new relationships with
alumni, funders, partners and donors through the delivery of high profile
events.

International Alert vacancies:
The Communication Unit’s role is to enable IDS to grow its profile and
credibility with the support of a strong coherent brand and to ensure our
profile and identity reflect our values and approach. Working alongside the
Open Knowledge and Digital Services Unit and the Knowledge
Mobilisation and Impact Unit, this small creative team will maximise IDS’
capability to make more of influencing and engagement opportunities,
and ensure it is able to attract more students, talented staff, researchers
and funders and partners. It focuses on areas of corporate communication,
events, publishing, marketing and policy engagement that require
centralised coordination, planning and delivery.
The post holder will need to combine outstanding interpersonal and communications skills with strong organisational and administrative skills. We
are seeking a candidate who is able to think creatively about ways in which
the work of the Institute can be best communicated to a wide range of
different audiences including policy makers, partners and funders.
They will need to bring a passion for engagement and network building, a
good knowledge of UK political processes and Westminster and
Whitehall and an understanding of the international development sector
more broadly.
Salary: Initial appointment will be between £24,542 to £36,658 per
annum (depending on experience), in the IDS Grade 6 range.

IDS requires an experienced, confident, collaborative and highly motivated
Nutrition Evaluation Programme Manager to contribute to leading and
managing large-scale multi-method impact evaluations. The successful
candidate will work with research leads/evaluation directors to lead and
co-ordinate IDS’ and partners’ work on complex, mutli-componentevaluations and research programmes of similar complexity. You will be
the primary point of contact with the relevant donors and consortium
partners based in the UK and internationally. You will be expected to work
with key internal and external stakeholders, including funders, to track
and target work, monitor progress and publicise results. We expect this
role to suit an experienced programme manager with a strong interest in
research, and/or evaluation or nutrition.
Salary: Initial appointment will be between
£34,137 to £45,121 per annum (depending on
experience), in the IDS Grade 7 range.
