This Sunday we move into the last week of preparation for Easter.
The Jews had been longing for a great leader, like one of their Kings of old, who would lead them
to victory against the Roman invaders. They thought that Jesus might be that leader.
At this time of Passover many Jews gathered in Jerusalem to remember how God had saved
them from slavery. But by his actions he shows everyone that he is no earthly king or soldier – he
comes as the King of peace, love and forgiveness. This is why he chose to enter the city riding
on a donkey, commonly used for carrying loads, rather than a battle horse. It is important at this
time to focus on the agony and desolation of the passion, but to remember most importantly
Jesus rose from the dead. This is the foundation of our faith.
We wish our “Soapbox Derby” team all the very best for their races this Saturday. They have
spent a good deal of time preparing for the event with wonderful support from staff and parents.

Team News
Matikao Team: This week in Matikao team, we continue to focus on independently getting ready
for learning. We are learning to sequence ideas and information when sharing them in different
ways. In Maths we are learning to make simple bar graphs to show information about our
classes.
Mokehu Team: We continue working on the Key Competencies in Mokehu and encouraging the
students to take more and more responsibility for themselves. You can support your child by
helping establish and reinforce good Home Learning routines – especially filling in the Reading
Log each night. Our regular Tuesday afternoon sports sessions where the classes rotate around
different games and different teachers is proving to be a wonderful opportunity to practice the
Key Competency of relating to others. We will continue with this rotation next term. Your child
needs to bring PE gear to school every day, but especially Tuesdays. Thank you for your
support.
Huruhuru team: We are looking forward to many of the Huruhuru students leading our Stations
of the Cross next Thursday. Congratulations and good luck to our selected team participating in
the Trolley Derby in Stanmore Bay this weekend and Go the Blackcaps!!!!
May God’s blessing come upon you.

Dear Friends,
This Sunday, Palm Sunday, is the great doorway leading into Holy Week, the week when the Lord
Jesus makes his way towards the culmination of his earthly existence. He goes up to Jerusalem in
order to fulfil the Scriptures and to be nailed to the wood of the Cross, the throne from which he will
reign for ever, drawing to himself humanity of every age and offering to all the gift of redemption.
We invite you all to join us for Liturgy this Holy Thursday, April 2nd, when our senior students
will reenact the Passion of Christ.
I wish you all a happy, Holy and safe holiday.
