Founded as a Roman city, in the Middle Ages Barcelona became the capital of the County of Barcelona. After merging with the Kingdom of Aragon, Barcelona continued to be an important city in the Crown of Aragon. Besieged several times during its history, Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage and is today an important cultural centre and a major tourist destination. There are different types of travel cards and transport passes in Barcelona that is valid throughout the public transport network (metro, buses, tram and suburban rail). A single ticket costs € 2.15, this is an individual non-integrated ticket, so it’s valid only for a single journey. If you are staying different days in the city consider buying: a T-10 card which is valid for 10 journeys and can be shared among more than one person. The “Aerobus” leaves from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 every 5’ and it costs € 5.90 (one way) and € 10.20 (round trip). It takes about 35’ from the airport to Plaza Cataluña. The Aerobus has two stops more: Urgell metro station and Plaza Espanya metro station. The Aerobus has two lines: A1 to terminal 1 and A2 to terminal 2.
