Artist Information Pack
Come along and contribute to a supportive environment where dance meets new physical and
collaborative heights. Philip Channells will support you to generate YOUR creative voice.
This residency is for people aged 18+ with and without a disability in the Moreton Bay region and
Brisbane offering a unique opportunity to take part in six movement-based workshops with the final
workshop featured in performance mode at the first Undercover Artist Festival on the 27 June 2015 at
Queensland Theatre Company.

Who are the artists involved?
The residency will be led by Dance Integrated Australia’s Creative Director Philip Channells and
Associate Artist Sam Leahy.
Philip is an internationally renowned leader in integrated dance, collaborating most recently with
Sydney-based dance company Force Majeure. Philip works with people from a range of diverse
backgrounds who experience physical and sensory impairment and learning or psychosocial
difficulties.
Sam Leahy is a Brisbane based dancer with disability. Sam has performed at Metro Arts and with
Bust-A-Move Dance.
How much?
Participants are invited to attend any number of workshop dates possible.
Lunch and light refreshments will be provided each day of the residency.
Individual workshops: $25 per workshop
or
Full 6 Day Residency: $100 (Discount of $50 for all six days.)
What should I wear and bring?
Please bring yourself, your imagination, and an open mind!
Wear clothing that you find comfortable to move freely in.
please don’t wear or bring jewellery or anything valuable, as there is nowhere to store it.
Please bring your own water bottle and any necessary supplements.
Lunch will be provided.
Who will be there?
There will be other participants with and without disabilities, artists who will be running the
workshops, and 2 staff members from Access Arts, who are both qualified in First Aid, and
first aid equipment is available on site.
Can support people attend?
In general we encourage participants to engage in the workshops without a support worker.
However, if a participant requires support within the studio, please contact us as soon as
possible to discuss arrangements.
TRANSPORT & PARKING - to and from venues
1. by Public Transport (train/bus/ferry)
Translink is the operator of all public transport in South East Queensland.

The Corso, North Lakes:
Corso North Lakes is conveniently located in the heart of North Lakes with covered walkways
connecting to nearby retail, commercial and transport hubs. It is near the North Lakes Library.
Bus & Train – from Brisbane city, you will need to catch a train then a connecting bus to get to
this location (across the road from the North Lakes library). Catch the Caboolture train service,
disembarking at Petrie Station. Walk 131m to Petrie station bus stop B – catch the bus number
680, disembarking at Anzac Ave (at Discovery Drive, Mango Hill), then walk 300m to The Corso
(at number 10, The Corso)
The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (JWC):
Bus - Fortitude Valley is well serviced by both bus and train networks. The 199, 196 and 195
buses all stop directly out front.
Train - JWC is a short walk from the Fortitude Valley train station (through the Brunswick Street
Mall). Visit the Translink website for more information.
Queensland Theatre Company (QTC):
Bus - The closest bus stop is the Cultural Centre – a 2-minute walk to the Playhouse Theatre
and a 10–15 minute walk to the Bille Brown Studio. The GoMA/State Library Bus Stop is also a
2-minute walk from the Bille Brown Studio.
Train - The closest train station to both venues is the South Brisbane Station, across Grey Street
from QPAC. For a scenic route try disembarking at Roma Street Station in the city and walking
across the William Jolly Bridge (15 minutes to Bille Brown Studio, 25 minutes to QPAC).
Ferry / CityCat - The nearest CityCat terminal is the Southbank 1 terminal – 5 minutes to QPAC
and 15 minutes to Bille Brown Studio.

2. by Car / Taxi - Where can I park?
The Corso, North Lakes:
There is ample on street parking adjacent to The Corso.
The Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (JWC):
Visitors to the Judith Wright Centre (JWC) can get $7 flat rate parking at Wilson Parking opposite
JWC on Berwick Street. Tickets from Wilson Parking must be validated at JWC using the red box
on Level 1 to access this special price when paying on exit. Car park entry is opposite JWC
courtyard and the Institute of Modern Art, on Berwick St. Other secure car parks and limited
street parking are also available nearby.
Queensland Theatre Company (QTC):
Parking is best at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) carpark – see ‘Parking at QPAC’
section below. Metered parking for 43 vehicles is available directly outside the QTC building
(Mon-Fri, 7am-7pm) managed by Brisbane City Council. Other metered street parking is available
in nearby streets (Montague, Merivale, Cordelia, Boundary) though we recommend patrons also
consider public transport to the venue. QTC also have a small number of parks available for
Patrons with Individual Needs (please advise QTC directly on telephone (07) 3010 7600 or email
[email protected] if you require assistance).Parking at QPAC - The Riverside Car
Park provides secure undercover parking right next to QPAC. Entry is $15 per visit. However,
spaces can also be pre-purchased for $21 to guarantee your spot.
