POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for the continuous enrichment and implementation of the financial information system,
general ledger transactions and reconciliation, donor care, donation processing and donor data base management
– the resources that enable ADRA Canada to meet the needs of those in poverty and distress.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Maintain filing system for Finance Department
 Post payables/purchase orders in the accounting system
 Post cheques and wire payments in the accounting system
 Record and maintain the fixed assets records
 Prepare monthly accounting reconciliations
 Produce monthly financial statements for distribution
 Prepare various accounting reports to government agencies
 Assist as needed to maintain and input constituent details in The Raiser’s Edge, including donations, address
updates and adding new constituents to the database
 Assist in preparation for the audit process
 Perform other duties as designated by the Controller
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCY
Essential
1. A minimum of 4 years of office experience
2. A personal commitment to ADRA's mission, values and beliefs.
3. Respect for the beliefs, structure, standards and programs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada.
4. A passion for social justice and international development to assist people in poverty.
5. High competency in telephone, written, verbal and e-mail communication as well as presentation skills in
English.
6. Ability to engage and communicate with people of various backgrounds and ages.
7. Excellent computer skills, fully literate in the MS Office suite and The Raiser’s Edge (or similar Customer
Relationship Management System [CRM] database), Financial Edge (Accounting System) and ability to use new
technologies.

Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work autonomously or in groups and to maintain
professionalism in sensitive and challenging situations.
Strong organizational skills and proven ability to meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to deliver a high level of customer service to supporters and visitors.

Financial management skills such as preparing spread sheets and reports with Initiative to improve processes
and attention to detail. Working knowledge in Not For Profit (NFP) accounting

Term: This is a 12 month contract position.
Statement of Disclosure: The nature of ongoing employment within ADRA Canada is dependent on financial
contributions from its support base. It is to be recognised that the level of financial support is of a fluctuating nature.
Performance Appraisal: A Performance Review will be conducted after six months in the position, then formal
appraisals will be conducted at 12 – 18 month intervals.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally
and in writing. Some standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying of light items, etc. required. Standard work hours,
as defined by the ADRA Canada Human Resources Manual, are required.
Working Conditions: Essential responsibilities are performed primarily in a sedentary and comfortable environment.
Tasks are usually performed under normal office conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well
lighted and ventilated. Position does not require international or domestic travel.

religious beliefs and teachings of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in all respects so as not to damage ADRA Canada’s
reputation or harm the employee’s ability to fulfil all of the position’s obligations. The employee must inform the
Executive Director if he/she no longer adheres to, or maintains belief in, the fundamental faith and religious beliefs of
the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
