We will have a very brief Assembly in the Hall at 3.20pm and students will be dismissed from school at the usual time of 3.30pm. We take this opportunity to wish all of our families a safe and relaxing holiday. Please note in your diary that School commences for Term 2 on Tuesday 14th of April; Monday 13th April is a Pupil-free Day at our school and for many other local schools. School council elections At the close of nominations for School Council we had received nominations from Paula Thynne, Natasha Siryj and Tiernan Humphrys for the Parent-Member category and one, Andrea Lowe, for the DEECD-member category. These candidates were duly elected and we thank them for their willingness to serve in the capacity of School Councillor. We still have two Parent-member vacancies and one DEECD-member vacancy. Pupil-free days Our first Curriculum Day for this year is proposed for Friday 27th March, which is the final day of Term 1. Our second Curriculum Day is proposed for Monday 13th April, which is the first day of Term 2. Staff will be working with teachers from our surrounding schools to further-develop our ideas and techniques as we teach your children. Incursion March 26th Students in Years 4/ 5 and 6 will have the opportunity to learn more about the culture of local Aboriginal when Ian Hunter, a member of the Wurundjeri wilam clan visits our school on Thursday next, the 26th of March. He is descended from the Kulin Nation, whose people shared the same religion and language, and lived in what is now metropolitan and greater Melbourne. Secondary School ‘Transition’ visit Our Year 4/ 5/ 6 students will visit Melba College on Wednesday 25th March for an introduction to Secondary School. Coach approach Our special sports program led by the Coach Approach coaches has now been completed. Once again this has been a very successful program enjoyed by all children who participated. We are confident that our students have now gained the skills and strategies needed to fully participate in the Interschool Sport Program which begins in Term 2.
