TVC standards for crew TVC crew to build foundation for a fair
TVC standards for crew Tuesday, 9 June 2015 TVC crew to build foundation for a fair standard Following TVC crew meetings in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast, MEAA will set up committees that will work towards a fair standard for crew working in TVCs. The role of the committees will be to drive a campaign for a fair standard in TVCs by getting crew working together. Crew have identified that a major challenge will be to eliminate producers asking for free hours. Any TVC standard will need to be backed up by a commitment from crew to enforce it in the long term. Nominate to be on the TVC committee: Nominations for the committees are open until Friday June 19. Nominees will need to do significant work in TVCs and must be members of MEAA. Contact your local organiser (below) to nominate yourself. It appears that consensus is building to recognise a 10-hour day for TVCs. Sydney crew have indicated a preference for 10 hours at a flat hourly rate with an 8-hour minimum and annual cost-ofliving increases (‘Option D’). Queensland crew are already working a 10-hour standard and preferred Option ‘B’, which incorporates a 10-hour minimum call. Melbourne crew are continuing consultation. Other issues raised at the TVC meetings include failure to pay superannuation, recognition of Sunday penalties, payment periods and unreasonable unpaid overtime. The new committees will work with TVC crew to address these issues.
