Required Personal Protective Equipment Helmet –Head Protection. A helmet, certified to meet current Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 218 (DOT), United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Standard 22.05, British Standard 6658, or Snell Standard M2005 or higher, shall be worn and properly fastened under the chin. Eye Protection – Eye Protection. Goggles, wrap around glasses, or a full-face shield designed to meet or exceed American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard Z87.1 will be properly worn. A windshield does not constitute proper eye protection. Foot Protection - Riders will wear sturdy over the ankle footwear that affords protection for the feet and ankles. Sandals or low quarter sneakers will not be used Protective Clothing - Protective Clothing. Wearing of long sleeved shirt or jacket, long trousers and full-fingered gloves or mittens is required. 2015 Course Dates Basic Rider Course (BRC) 19-20 May 10-11 June Motorcycle Rider Requirements Experienced Rider Course (BRC2) 28 May 16 June Refresher Training – Group Ride 4, 19, 26 June When registering for a course please include the following information: Name: Status (current 101st member, other military member, dependant, retiree): Gloves or mittens will be made from leather or other abrasion-resistant material. Course type requested (BRC/BRC2): Wearing of a motorcycle jacket and pants constructed of abrasion resistant materials such as leather, Kevlar® and/or Cordura® containing impact absorbing padding is strongly encouraged. All AF military personnel any time, on or off a Department of Defense (DoD) installation. 2. All AF civilian personnel on duty, on or off a DoD installation. 3. All persons in or on a government owned or government leased/rented motor vehicle. 4. All persons any time on an AF installation, includes all leased, owned or privatized property, including housing areas. Training All riders must identify themselves to the Unit Motorcycle Safety Representative for their unit and attend a Commander’s Initial Safety Briefing within 2 Unit Training Assemblies (UTAs) of assignment. Riders must also attend a preseason riding safety briefing each year. Training will consist of INITIAL, INTERMEDIATE, and REFRESHER Training modules. INITIAL TRAINING Must meet the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course (BRC) requirements. Prior to operation of a motorcycle. Pending completion of initial training, commanders may authorize operators who possess a valid motorcycle license, endorsement or riders permit to ride subject to any restrictions imposed by such license, endorsement, or permit. INTERMEDIATE TRAINING Personal Protective Equipment Ideally within 60 days but no later than 1 year after completing initial training. Helmet Meet or exceed requirements for initial training. MSF Experienced Rider Course, BRC-2, Military Sportbike Riders Course (MSRC), Advanced Riders Course (ARC), Air Mobility Command (AMC) Sport Bike Course Sport bike riders shall attend the MSRC, ARC, AMC Sport Bike All Approved Helmets will have the DOT Label Eye Protection REFRESHER TRAINING Complete at least every 5 years. Meet or exceed requirements for intermediate training. May be satisfied with Installation or unit organized rides when conducted in accordance with AFI 91-207, Attachment 4. Coordination with your Wing Safety Office is required. Foot Protection A listing of approved courses conducted by MSF certified 101st Air Refueling Wing instructors is included in this brochure.
