Thank you for attending the Company wide meeting on Friday, February 25th• Since then, a number of
employees have provided me with copies of a letter they received from an anonymous source urging
support for the Union. The author of the anonymous letter is correct that Prime Focus appreciates and
values the work done by Artists. However, bringing in the Union does not guarantee the various
benefits being described in the letter, as the anonymous writer so rightfully conceded: not healthcare,
not a 401K, not a pension, not paid leave, nor paid holidays.
It is important that you understand what the promise of the Union means and how bargaining works.
Therefore, we've put together the following information for your review.
Even if the Union manages to gather enough authorization cards to petition the Labor Board for an
election, .and thereafter wins that election, all they win is the right to negotiate - the right to ask the
Company for what they want. Nothingmore. And the Company has the legal right to say yes or no to
any and all of the Union's requests- just like the Company can do now when you ask for yourself,
whether individually or in a Company-wide meeting.
No one knows and no one can predict what will happen as a result of bargaining. The Union cannot
guarantee the outcome of any negotiations, which means that they cannot make and keep promises
about health care, retirement or leave benefits. They also cannot guarantee that you won't lose what
you already have. through" contract negotiations. Collective bargaining is a process of give and take.
As.a result ofbatgaining, your"wages and working conditions could go down, up, or stay the same.
The only thing the Union Canguarantee is you would pay Union dues every month - which, according
to the Union's last filing with the federal government is $76.50-$101.11 per quarter, per employee).
To be direct, the Union cannot guarantee more, and it might possibly mean less. With this in mind, we
believe that it is in your best interest to refuse to support the Union.
