What is APS Type 1?
Autoimmune Polyglandular Type 1 (APS Type 1) is an ultra-rare genetic disorder which is genetically
inherited. The body’s immune system, which is meant to protect your body against infections produces
antibodies that instead attack and destroys its own endocrine system as well as other lifelong challenges.
What have we been doing?
In 1997, researchers found the specific gene “AIRE” that causes this condition. Because of how rare this
disorder is (1 in 2 Million), it takes individuals like YOU to help us raise money for research around this
disorder to ultimately find a cure. We established our Foundation in 2014 and we continue to raise funds
through a restricted research grant with NORD (National Organization of Rare Disorder). We have five
research grants in process with projects at Johns Hopkins and the University of California. We will find
a cure and your participation in our tournament will help us reach our goal.
In 2014 our 5th Research Project launched with a $100,000 grant to UCSF.
We are close to $400,000 in fundraising since 2006! Thanks to you!!!

What the day looks like?
Well…we were rained out in 2014 but that’s behind us now. However, in 2013 we had 132 golfers and
180 people at the dinner extravaganza! This year will again be a Scramble format (w/a twist of
course). Join us as we celebrate our ninth years of tournament success and disease awareness.
All supporters are recognized at the dinner and throughout the event, please be one of them.

What the day looks like?
A light lunch will be provided between 11:30 to 12:30pm. Dinner and awards for closest to the pin,
longest drive, lowest round, Tricky Tray raffle, auction, etc will be provided following the
tournament. Everyone leaves with something! (2014 Format - 4 Man Scramble w/a twist of course)
