Participants have interactions with NSF program directors, recent 12:00-13:00 NSF grant awardees, and other participants, asking more questions, sharing what they have learned, etc. NSF Program directors describe procedures for a typical CAREER proposal panel 13:00-13:15 meeting 13:15-13:30 Panel preparations, conflict briefing 13:30-15:00 15:00-15:30 15:30-16:30 16:30-17:00 17:30-19:00 19:00-21:00 Mock panels: put each proposal in one of the three categories: PC (primary consideration), SC (secondary consideration), and DNC (do not consider) Break Continue with mock panels: 15:30-16:00 Rank the proposals in PC and SC categories and upload rankings on the six mock proposals 16:00-16:30 Write panel summary for each proposal and upload panel summaries Discuss ranking results from 25 panels Working dinner. Participants have interactions with current and former NSF program directors, senior faculty, recent CAREER awardees, and other participants Homework assignment -- participants revise their project summaries of their own CAREER proposals based on what they have learned during the day. FTP Info Website each panel uses to upload proposal ratings after discussion: aries.imse.ksu.edu/nsf/nsf2015/workshop/feedback.asp Website each panel uses to upload their summaries of each proposal: nsfdocs.imse.ksu.edu:8080 Everyone will login using the username: panelsummary and password panelsummary. Each panel will have six documents to upload (one for each of the proposals). Please label each panel summary document so they are easy to understand. The naming protocol is: panel[your panel #]proposal[proposal #]. e.g. panel4proposal2. Overnight, each participant revises their own CAREER proposal project summary. Project summaries from participants in your panel will be uploaded to the corresponding FTP account at the same FTP site nsfdocs.imse.ksu.edu:8080. All panelists in your panel use the same project summary username and password to access the ftp site. Make sure that each panelist gives their project summary a unique name so that they don’t overwrite each other’s submission. Please work out a naming protocol to use with your group. One convenient protocol is to use email addresses.
