Arkivum/100™ is an all-inclusive, cloud
based, managed service that delivers a costeffective alternative to existing spinning disc
solutions for large-scale data archiving
requirements. It is straightforward to deploy
and integrates with institutional repository
applications such as figshare, DSpace,
EPrints and Archivematica.
Being cloud-based, Arkivum /100 delivers
large volume archiving right out of the box
- with the option to easily increase capacity
as demand grows.
How does it work?
The pricing and services contract for
Arkivum/100 has been standardised and
agreed up front with Janet and as Arkivum
is the sole supplier on the Janet framework
(which was tendered according to Public
Sector Procurement Regulations), there
is no need for any competitive tendering
process.
Secure and easy to deploy
Arkivum/100 is based on the principle
that at least three copies of your data are
needed for 100% certainty that data is safe.
This is the basis of our 100% data integrity
guarantee.
Using replication and active integrity
checking processes, every one of your files
is copied at least three times. Two copies are
held online in geographically separated data
centres and the third copy is held offline in
a third-party escrow service.
Access to Arkivum/100 is via a virtual or
physical gateway and the entire installation
process can be competed in less than three
weeks from order date - and in only three
days for a virtual gateway.
You just copy your files and data sets into
Arkivum/100 using the exosed filesystem
interface. Arkivum/100 encrypts and copies
the files out to our Tier-3 data centres and
then copies the encrypted file to the 3rd
party escrow provider.
All-inclusive and fully managed
Arkivum/100 provides everything needed
to deploy a scalable and large-scale data
archiving service within your institution.
Using either an OpEx or CapEx model, all
the costs associated with Arkivum/100 are
known up front and, other than gateway rack
space, there are no additional resources
(physical infrastructure, hardware,
software, utilities or people) required to
deploy Arkivum/100.

ensures that should you need to exit from
Arkivum/100, you can access to the escrow
tapes on which your encrypted data is
stored. Using only open standard / open
source tools, you are able to rapidly retrieve
your data. All you need is a tape drive.

one with only research data.
