2015 CSA Member Agreement for Aspen Ridge Farm
2015 CSA Member Agreement for Aspen Ridge Farm Farm Contact Information: Aspen Ridge Farm Jonestown Rd. Oxford, NJ 07863 727-424-8591 [email protected] Member Contact Information: Name: _________________________________ Address: _______________________________ City, State: _____________________________ ZIP: ___________________________________ Phone Number: __________________________ Email: _________________________________ We, the farm, wish to provide you with fresh, local, seasonal food and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship. Section 1. Introducing Our CSA Farm A. Becoming a Part of Our Farm Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of this CSA farm who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest. Our CSA runs for a 6 month season, broken down into two, three month shares. Members are responsible for showing up at the farm or Stroudsburg pick-up every other week or monthly at the Madison monthly pick-up site to claim your share. Detailed information regarding share types is discussed below in Section 3. Size may vary as described below in Section 2. B. Our Growing Practices The farm is managed without using conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge, bioengineering, or ionizing radiation. Our animals are pasture raised and allowed continuous access to the outdoors during their production cycle. In addition to foraging, chickens and pigs receive an organically grown grain ration sourced from local farmers that is soy and GMO free. Veal calves and lambs are raised exclusively on mother’s milk and pasture. Section 2. Our Shared Commitments A. Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure We promise to do our best to provide you the outlined share each pick-up. The product size, however, may vary from month-to-month due to extreme weather, predation, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows: *Couple smaller meat cuts/eggs with larger cuts/eggs, or give an additional cut/eggs to supplement the smaller sizes. OR *Extend the CSA season to include the same number of total items over a larger amount of time. OR *We may cover for a crop loss by buying in from other local farms with the same growing practices as our farm. You will be informed of this change ahead of time. This may not be a feasible option for all crops because of cost or widespread failure. B. Sharing in the Reward of Crop Surplus When growing conditions are ideal, meat cuts are especially large. Members will receive cuts larger than outlined in Section 3. Section 3. Membership Options By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase animal stock, equipment and grain before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment.
