4-3/4" AutoTrak V Rotary Steerable System Precise Vertical Drilling
Technical Data S ummary 4-3/4" AutoTrak V Rotary Steerable System Precise Vertical Drilling AutoTrak V is a stand-alone rotary steerable drilling system that automatically seeks and maintains a strictly vertical, straight and smooth wellbore. Whether drilling a top-hole section, the end of an S-curve or correcting an unintentionally deviated wellbore, AutoTrak V offers an economical, efficient solution with superior drilling performance and continuous string rotation. The AutoTrak V vertical-seeking system is based on the field proven, reliable AutoTrak Rotary Steerable System, but tailored for the challenge of cost effective drilling of vertical wells or hole intervals. Three hydraulically controlled steering ribs keep the wellbore vertical while constantly rotating the drillstring. AutoTrak V is automated, to run without any additional MWD system and provides a continuous near-bit inclination update. The perfectly straight vertical borehole delivered by the AutoTrak V system minimizes the risk of wellbore collision in pad drilling applications, and the superior hole quality reduces operational risks during wireline logging and when running casing. It can be combined with high-power drilling motors for ultimate performance and optimized drilling dynamics. Unlike other systems on the market the steering mechanism is independent from bit pressure drop, so that hydraulic parameters like flow rate, mud weight and bit nozzle selection can be optimized for maximum rate of penetration. The steering ribs are decoupled from string rotation to minimize equipment wear and formation damage, especially in softer formations, like in typical top-hole sections. Features Benefits Steering ribs automatically keep the wellbore vertical while the drillstring rotates 100% of the drilling time. Delivers a vertical wellbore and reduces time on well by eliminating correction runs and sliding time with steerable motors. Steering mechanism that provides continuous steering while drilling ahead. Improved wellbore quality minimizes issues when running casing. Near-bit inclination and diagnostic data in realtime. Minimizes wellbore collision risks and ensures that target is precisely intersected Steering mechanism that is independent of hydraulic parameters such as flow rate, mud weight and mud properties. Drilling performance is optimized by allowing the adjustment of hydraulic conditions for the application. Capability to combine with Baker Hughes' large and diverse fleet of high-power downhole motors. Improves rate of penetration by minimizing drilling dysfunctions. Economical and simple deployment with minimal surface interaction during the drilling process. Reduces set up time and ensures efficiency during drilling operations. 4-3/4" AutoTrak V Rotary Steerable System ©2011-2011 Baker Hughes Incorporated. All rights reserved. ATKV-70-01-001 Rev.
