Be all you can be! You can be positive every day. You can have
difficult situations and overcome. You can be the best at your
game and can be happy in both life and work.
Representatives from OSCA, DOR and the State Auditor’s office will
be here to share with us the latest on audits, legislative updates and
answer any questions you may have about how changes may affect
us as court clerks.

An Unfettered Life — If Not Now, When?
Ray Reuter – Tuesday, 1:00 – 2:45pm
This session will cover several core topics and ideas on how
to live an unfettered life — a life of meaning and mastery.
First, we will look at yourself and things we all can control
— our attitude, our choices, our productivity, our priorities.
Then we will touch on how we can positively relate to
others through effective communication, the gift of
feedback, and healthy conflict. You will be awakened and
inspired to see and do what’s possible in your life and in
your workplace.

Despite rapidly changing technology, effective written
communication will remain critical to the success of any
organization. The speed at which information is transmitted makes
it more important that the message is right the first time.
Participants learn how to professionally communicate across
multiple platforms.

Betty will be discussing how she overcomes the emotional
trauma she faced in February 7, 2008 when Charles Thornton
murdered 6 people at the Kirkwood City Council meeting.
“Flexing” Your Communication for Maximum Impact
Sandra Brown – Wednesday, 1:00 – 2:30pm
We often modify our communication depending on the
audience. But, are we doing that strategically or without thinking
about it? This lively and interactive program will explore
opportunities to ‘flex’ your style and help you reach your
goals. You will learn about; how listening reduces your stress,
considerations for different communication platforms and
strategies to successfully resolve conflict.

An opportunity to discuss with other courts using the same CMS
about issues and network sharing with each other.

This session will provide you with the correct way to conduct a
business meeting, how to make a proper motion, the duties of the
officers and how to utilize the governing documents appropriately.

We will go over the process of submitting fingerprint
cards, what offenses require fingerprinting and the
necessity of submitting this information.

During this session, you will have the opportunity to
review the days training and ask any questions you may
have. The presenters from the day and other seasoned
clerks will be here to answer your questions.
CCA/ACCA
CANCELLATIONS, REFUNDS & SUBSTITUTIONS
Giovanni Carollo – Thursday, 4:15 – 4:45pm
Cancellations made less than five working days prior to the
conference start date are subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee.
Refunds will not be granted after the conference has begun.
Substitutions may be made prior to the conference start date.
This session will cover the steps you need to follow in order to
obtain your CCA and ACCA. Make sure you have the correct
information.
Healthy Team for Healthy Living
Larry Jeude – Friday, 9:00 – 11:30am
This session is not a “sit and get” it will be physically and mentally
active. The session is designed to energize you and help you look at
your colleagues in a different light. We will explore aspects of how
you can think differently about how you, and your team; solve
problems, communicate effectively, and reach decisions. Having a
deeper understanding of the strengths and weaknesses, learning
styles, and decision making styles of the people you work with on an
on-going basis can help to reduce conflict, enhance satisfaction and
make the team more collegial. Each participant is asked to bring a
water bottle.
LOCATION & HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS
All sessions are being held at the Tan-Tar-A Resort, Osage Beach, Missouri. A block of rooms is being held for the conference. The standard
room tax exempt rate is $106.97. This rate does include a 3% tourism tax (not tax exempt) per night. Payment must be made with a city
check or credit card as well as providing a copy of the city’s tax exempt letter in order to be sales tax exempt. The number to call for
room reservations is: 1-800-826-8272; be sure to mention the code CRTR to qualify for the special rate.

NEW CLERK TRAINING
CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU’S)
CEU’s are granted by Missouri State University, Office of Access
and Outreach and will be mailed approximately 12 weeks after
completion of the conference. The 2015 conference offers 25
contact hours. New Clerks Training offers 6.5 contact hours.
Attendance at session will earn 0.10 CEU for each contact hour.
Participants may request a transcript of all MSU sponsored
MACA training hours by using the transcript request form found
online
at
http://associations.missouristate.edu/MACA/macaceus.htm
along with a fee of $10.00.
ENDORSEMENT/SPONSORSHIP
The MACA conference is an educational program endorsed by
the Office of State Courts Administrator and the Missouri
Municipal League. It is designed to meet education
requirements for the Certified Court Administrator and the
Advanced Certified Court Administrator programs in any year.
The 2015 Annual Conference is being sponsored by the Missouri
State University, Office of Access and Outreach, in cooperation
with the Missouri Association for Court Administration.
