United Nations Population Fund صندوق االمم المتحدة للسكان Baghdad - Iraq العراق-بغداد VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Official Job Title: Programme Associate/Youth Post Number: Re-UNFPA/IRQ/14/06 Current Grade: SB3/Peg1 Duration: One Year (Renewable) Contract Type: Service Contract Date: 7 April 2015 1. Duty Station: Erbil, IRAQ Organizational Location The Programme Associate will be stationed in UNFPA Iraq location inside the UN Compound in Erbil and will directly report to the Youth Program Analyst. The Programme Associate is part of a team which provides integrated programme and technical support within a systems strengthening approach fundamental to UNFPA’s overall strategy. The Programme Associate also works in close collaboration with Operations Manager (OM) and his/her team to ensure timely support to COs on operational matters. 2. Job Purpose The Programme Associate contributes to the development and implementation of effective country programme in Iraq by providing administrative support to UNFPA’s youth programme. As appropriate the Programme Associate will also contribute to research, financial management and operational and procedural guidance. 3. • • • • • • • • • • • • • 4. Major Activities/Expected Results Assist the CO technical and programme team in providing support on operational and programme matters; Assist Iraq Country Office in coordinating UNFPA technical network in the substantive area; Participate in formulation of Country Programme and components projects, Prepare draft workplans jointly with Programme Analysts and national partners Assist in monitoring of approved programme work plans, and Office Management Plan; Assist in preparation, implementation and monitoring process of the Country programme; Ensure proper management of the office filing and archiving system; Apply UNFPA rules, regulations and procedures: Perform research assistance duties including bibliographic and database searches; summarize information and draft contributions to Country Office reports, technical notes, and publications; Identify sources, and gather and compile data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers; Assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations for the technical and programme team members; Organize, compile and process information from donors, , programme countries, and country offices, as inputs to various databases and documents; and Carry out any other duties as may be required by the International Programme Coordinator Work Relations The Programme Associate works with and provides support to the members of the Technical and Programme Team in the Country Office, as well as the team under the OM; Programme Associates and officers at Headquarters, Regional Offices and other Country Offices. Job Requirements: Education: Completed secondary level education required. First level university degree in public administration, finance, or economics desirable. Knowledge and Experience: 6 years previous relevant experience; Previous experience in the UN an advantage; Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; Computer literacy - Word, Excel, Power-point, etc.; Good knowledge of Atlas / People soft or other ERP system; Good writing and communication skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Languages: Fluency in Oral and Written English and Kurdish. Arabic Language will be an asset. Other Desirable Skills: Proficiency in current office software applications; good basic knowledge of finances and mastery of a series of financial and spreadsheet software. 7.
