SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL 32 A, CHANDIGARH ROAD LUDHIANA MONTHLY REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL 2015 (SENIOR SECTION) ENGLISH ARTICULATORS‟ CLUB ORGANISED EXTEMPORE Date: April 11, 2015 Venue: School Auditorium Organizer: Ms. Shikha Uppal Judges: Ms. Vanita from Primary Wing and Ms. Meenakshi from Middle section With a view to hone oratory and communication skills of the students, Articulators’ club (Eng.) organized an extempore contest for class X.Participants expressed their views on given topics spontaneously and confidently. Winners : I- Sidhant XJ II-Ishita XJ III- Puneet XD AITSE ORAL TEST Date: 11 April 2015 Organizer: Children’s Education Trust Interview Board Panel: Ms. Shikha Uppal (English), Ms. Savita Dhawan and Ms. Meena Sharma for General Science, Math and G.K. The Oral Test for AITSE (2014) was conducted between 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Students of Group A, B, C were evaluated out of 10 marks in each subject, however for Group D students, oral questions were asked in English and G.K. only and marks were given out of 15 for each subject. AITSE (Oral Test) motivated the students towards healthy competitive spirit among their peers at National Level and provided them a platform to nurture their talents. PARTICIPATION IN LIFE CYLE: LEADING A BETTER LIFE Solo Singing, Poster Making and Face Painting Organized Date: April 12, 2015 Venue: Rakh Bagh Opp. Guru Nanak Stadium Organizer: Ms. Bhawna , Ms. Jyoti Mishra, Ms. Neelam Sehgal, Ms. Madhu Sharma, Winners: Solo Singing : Poster Making : Face Painting : Jaskaran Singh of IX-C (guided by Ms. Gurmeet Kaur) II Prize Simardeep Kaur of IX-F (guided by Ms. Bhawna) II Prize. Kinnari of XII Arts and Shraddha of IX-H (guided by Ms. Bhawna) II Prize Nukkad Natak: A team of 12 students (guided by Ms. Kamaljeet Kaur) III Prize Graffiti: A team of 4 students (guided by Ms. Heena) II Prize Mr. S.K. Rai from Hero Cycles and Mr‟ G.S. Passi and Mr. Karanjeet Singh from Ralson India Ltd. distributed the prizes, certificates and trophies among the winners. VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS ST. BALJIN DER SINGH JI 16 April 2015 “Blessings of the saints are the greatest wealth one can earn.” The whole B.C.M. family was blessed and honored by the divine presence of His Holiness St. Baljinder Singh Ji from Gurudwara Karamsar Rara Saheb. Accompanied by Honorable Sh. S.K. Mehta Ji and Principal Sir , the holy saint had a tour of the school and expressed his delight to see an enriched library, computer labs and other facilities available for the students. Cambridge International School Award Conferred upon BCM Sec 32. April 18, 2015 At a scintillating internationally renowned award ceremony-“EDUConvEx Awards” held at New Delhi on April 18, Cambridge International School Award 2015 was conferred upon B.C.M.Sr.Sec.School, Chd Road. This award was given to the school in recognition of its contribution to the development and implementation of a learner centric teaching learning environment by introducing Cambridge International English Language Assessments.Many students received the awards of honour and gift vouchers for their excellent performance in these assessments. PRINCIPALS‟ MEET Date: Venue: 18 April 2015 School Conference Hall Principals of 12 schools of the city assembled for a meeting at B.C.M. 32 A, for the discussion about sending a memorandum to District Education Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana regarding Transport Problems for the students of the city schools. Earth Day Celebrated 22 April 2015 If our native planet „Mother Earth‟ is sick; we cannot be healthy. To aware gen-next children about ill-treatment of planet earth and an urgent need of reversing the damage, B.C.M. Sen. Sec. School, 32A, organized a series of educational and fun activities in the school campus to celebrate Earth Day. Eco Club organized a PPT Making Competition on the topic Adverse Effects of Pollution on Earth‟s Environment. Gardening Club Organized a Poster Making Competition in which students exhibited their creativity and concern for the mother Earth in various hues and shades. Winners : PPT Making Competition: Ajay & Namit Shubham, Gautam, Namit & Harshit Palak & Harman XF IX I II Prize IX A III Prize I Prize Poster Making Competition: Bhavika Ashi Harsimranjeet singh Jagriti Ahuja IX J IX H XA XI I Prize II Prize III Prize III Prize CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) of TEACHERS 22 April 2015 Ms. Shikha Uppal, Coordinator of Cambridge English Exams at school, attended a thought provoking seminar on „Re-thinking Education for a Whats-App World‟ addressed by Mr. John Kerr – Director, QAI, UK and other eminent speakers in the Hotel Fortune Park Klassic, Ludhiana wherein the participants from elite schools of Ludhiana were stimulated for ’RETHINKING EDUCATION’ in the fast pacing global world. CAREER SEMINAR BY DANIEL ZARETSKY (DIRECTOR CUAC) Date: Venue: 23 April 2015 Auditorium Daniel Zaretsky, An Education Expert and Director Canadian University Application Centre (CUAC), Torento was on a succinct visit to B.C.M. Senior Secondary School, 32A- Chandigarh Road. Mr. Zaretsky addressed the students of class XII from Science, Commerce and other streams. He informed the students about career options, courses available and other exclusive opportunities for studying in Canada. Mr. Zaretsky clarified the doubts raised by the students. WORLD BOOK DAY CELEBRATED 23 April 2015 The World Book Day was celebratedated enthusiastically in B.C.M. Senior Secondary School 32A, Chandigarh Road. Every member from the BCM family, without distinction, devoted half an hour for reading books. Book Review Writing & Self – Composed Poem Recitation Competitions were organized for fanning the students’ interest in reading books. Orientation Programme for New Entrants of XI Date : Venue: Classes: April 22 & 25, 2015 Conference Hall XI (all streams) The school life is the training ground for preparing conscientious citizens. If our schools have disciplined and sincere students, India will have responsible and dedicated countrymen. Hence, considering it prime duty of society and educational institutes to guide the students on the path of righteousness, B.C.M. Sen. Sec. School, 32A, conducted an orientation programme for the new entrants of all streams of class XI. In two sessions of one-hour orientation programmes, the school Principal, Sh.D.P.Guleria, expressed his concern about the ill-effects of social media and junk food on the minds and bodies of the children. Through a power point presentation, Mr. Guleria stressed upon selfdiscipline, and gave tips about time-management and stress management.
