RULES AND REGULATIONS
1 Entries for classes 1 – 99 will only be accepted from members of BCSS.
2 The judges may, at their discretion, withhold any award in any Class where they consider the
standard of the exhibits too low. The Judges’ decision is final.
3 Judging and plant classification will be in accordance with the ‘Handbook of Shows’ 10th Edition.
4 Objections to the Judging must be lodged in writing with the Show Secretary no later than 2.00pm.
5 The venue will be available for staging of plants on 5th June from 5.00pm to 8.00pm and on 6th
June from 8.00am to 10.00am, and entries must be staged by 10.00am on the day of the show, and
must not be removed without special permission of the Show Secretary before 16.00hrs.
6 The Show Committee accepts no responsibility for the safety of plants, personal property nor for
bodily injury incurred by persons while attending the Show however caused. All reasonable care
against loss or damage will be taken, but exhibits are staged at the owner’s risk.
7 Allocation of awards given on points basis will be as follows:1st Prize - 3pts; 2nd Prize - 2pts;
3rd Prize - 1pt
8 Exhibitors may exhibit any number of entries in any one class.
9 A "Novice" shall be eligible to show in section "D" for 3 years and can show for longer if he/she has
not won a trophy at a BCSS ‘Open Show’. On winning a trophy he/she will be eligible to show as a
‘novice’ for a further two years.
10 RHS rules of award apply to Banksian Medal, copy of rules available from Show Secretary.
11 Entry into the Branch Show constitutes acceptance of these Rules.
12 The general rules of the Botanic Gardens will apply.
BRITISH CACTUS AND SUCCULENT SOCIETY (www.bcss.org.uk)
There are five branches of the society in Scotland, meeting in Glasgow, Cupar, Hurlford, Aberdeen
and Inverness. The Glasgow Branch has monthly meetings, except in July and August when
greenhouse visits are usually arranged. The Branch meetings are held in the Hopkirk Building,
Botanic Gardens, Glasgow G12 0UE (entry via Queen Margaret Drive entrance at 7.15pm) on the
first Thursday of each month when speakers and members discuss finer points of cactus and succulent
growing. Visitors are made very welcome.
