Past showings have included documentaries, indie films, limited releases, and local productions. WILD TALES (Relatos Salvages) Official submission of Argentina to the best foreign language film category of the 87th Academy Awards 2015. Pedro Almodovar presents a film by Damian Szifron Vulnerable in the face of reality that shifts and suddenly turns unpredictable, the characters of Wild Tales cross the thin line that divides civilization and barbarism. Rated R for violence, language and brief sexuality. (2:12) IRIS IRIS pairs the 87-year-old Maysles with Iris Apfel, the quick-witted, flamboyantly dressed 93-year-old style maven who has had an outsized presence on the New York fashion scene for decades. The film portrays a singular woman whose enthusiasm for fashion, art and people are life’s sustenance and reminds us that dressing, and indeed life, is nothing but an experiment. Despite the abundance of glamour in her current life, she continues to embrace the values and work ethic established during a middleclass Queens upbringing during the Great Depression: “I feel lucky to be working. If you’re lucky enough to do something you love, everything else follows.” Rated PG-13 for some strong language.
