Tentative Outline Special Issue for Innovations in Corrosion and Materials Science Guest Editor(s): Prof. M. A. Quraishi “Advances in Nano-materials and Corrosion” Aims & Scope: The theme of the present issue is to discuss the impact of nanomaterials on the various engineering applications. Nanomaterials describe in principle materials having single unit size in between 1-100 nanometers. This issue also discusses the corrosion behavior of various advanced materials. Topics covered in this special issue include “Nanocomposites, bioactive glasses and glass ceramics. Nanocomposites are a multiphase solid material where one of the phases has one, two or three dimensions of less than 100 nanometers, or structures having nano-scale repeat distances between the different phases that make up the material. Bioactive glasses are a group of surface reactive glass ceramic biomaterials which include the original bioactive glass. The biocompatibility of these glasses has led them to be investigated extensively for use as implant materials in the human body to repair and replace diseased or damaged bone. It is expected that the current issue will provide the readers a glimpse of the various research and development activities taking place in the field of advanced materials. Key words: (at least 5 keywords) Nanomaterials; Nanocomposites; Bioglass; Glass and Glass Ceramics; Corrosion. Subtopics: (minimum 6 topics or paper titles) In vitro degradation and mechanical behavior of novel strontium substituted bioactive glass. Bioactivity and Mechanical Behavior of Cobalt Oxide Doped Bioactive Glass and Glass Ceramics. Innovations into the Corrosion Characteristics of Metal Matrix Nanocomposites.
