WTC Birds Hill Duathlon in the Park is
Manitoba's premier duathlon series consisting
of four races held every Tuesday evening in May.
All racers who sign up for all 4 races ONLINE before 11:59pm on April 18th, 2015
will receive a $20 Woodcock Cycle Works gift certificate!
Chip timing will be provided by Steve from Results Canada.
This Run + Bike + Run race series has been held annually for
over 30 years, and is currently held in Bird's Hill Park on "East Side
Beach". Organized by Winnipeg Triathlon Club, all races will feature
great on-site prizes and refreshments for all participants.
Brought to you by:
Online registration for each race closes Saturday at 11:59pm. If you are unable to
register online in time, we have walk-up race day registration for an extra fee.
Awards BBQ/Windup will take place at the closing of the 4th race Tuesday, May 26th
(weather permitting). The Grand prize and prize money will be awarded for category
winners.
Gift certificates, generously donated by Woodcock Cycle Works, will be awarded for
category/age group winners.

Note: Your One Day Membership Fee provides you Liability Insurance through Triathlon Manitoba, but does not in any
way provide the athlete with personal accident or health insurance. Personal Insurance is your responsibility.

How are prizes drawn?

1. At each race, 5 bib numbers will be drawn and placed into the perpetual hat.
This will be drawn at the awards BBQ/Windup scheduled to
take place at the closing of the 4th race on Tuesday May
26th, 2015 (weather permitting).
2. An additional name each race will be drawn from the early bird 4-race sign ups.
3. A total of 24 names will be drawn over the 4 races.
4. If the name of someone already in the pot is drawn, there will be a re-draw.
5. At the final race, the Grand Prize Winner will be drawn from the 24 names.
6. You MUST be present to receive the grand prize, otherwise there will be re-draw.
Continuing From Last Year
Race bibs are MANDATORY, race belts are encouraged.
Only pre-registered/paid racers have until 6:15pm to sign in and pick up their timing
chip and race bib. You will not be permitted to race otherwise.
The infamous gingersnap cookies will be available again with
the after race snacks.
No combining of Points will happen between the Adult Long and Short races. Each will
be separate races with their own separate age group winners.
Staggered Race Start times:
6:45pm - KOS Short & Long Course
6:50pm - Adult Long Course
7:10pm - Adult Short Course
On site registration booth opens at 5:00pm and closes at 6:00pm. Any new walk-up
registrations not in line by 6:00pm, will not be processed or permitted to race. We
encourage online registration to save yourself time and the $5 walk-up fee.

You can change your Pre-registered Online choice of race distance last minute without
penalty by seeing the TIMER on race day.
General
Food
Bananas, oranges, bagels,
cookies, and refreshments
will be available after each
race, but only enough to help
tell a few war stories. Fruit is
generously provided by Vic’s
Fruit Market.
Cutoff Times
Race cutoff times are enforced for the safety of our
Volunteers, Race Staff and Athletes. Cut off times apply to
the Adult Long Distance Duathlon only. You have 1hr
25min from race start to have any part of your bike
across the dismount line, and 2hr 10min total to complete
your entire race. Thereafter, no athletes will be allowed to
continue onto the second run. Refunds will NOT be
provided to those not making the cut off time. Failure to
stop as directed could result in a penalty from the Triathlon
Manitoba Officials.
Prize Money
The overall and KOS age group first place athletes will receive a Woodcock Cycle
Works gift certificate. Amounts are outlined in the adjacent charts. Total cash
value is dependant upon an average of 180 athletes attending all four race
dates. (Race Director reserves the right to change/modify at any time.) Prizes will
be mailed to each winner.
Total Prize Money = $200
Points
To win, you must accumulate the highest number of points in your
age category, at the same race distance. Best 3 of 4 races in one
race distance only, will determine the winners. Race Director
reserves the right to make final changes should a race be cancelled.
Winners will be decided by points earned:

In the event of a tie, the winner will be decided by the outcome of the last Head to Head race.
The Race Director will make the final decision, if required, after that and there will be no appeals.
