A closed circuit shunt type protector for use on up to 24 Vdc circuits.
Maintains its 1000  minimum resistance and rated breakdown voltage
over a long service life.
A sealed version is available for use on equipment subject to moisture or
immersion. Although surge handling capability is not as great as the Heavy
Duty Equaliser, resistance remains constant in the presence of moisture.

Made with alloy resistance wire wound on a porcelain core to which
stainless steel lugs are attached. The assembly is embedded in insulating
ceramic cement and a steel casing which is sealed with a high grade
insulating paint.
Can be used as heating units within some equipment to prevent frost
accumulation at vital points such as commutators to contacts.
All units are 100% tested for resistance and each unit is guaranteed to
have a nominal value not less than the rated value. Units are noted in
AREMA wattage specified in Manual Part 135. Maximum rise of hottest
temperature part of resistor body is 147°C above ambient.
