Parent Teacher Interviews Next Wednesday 24 June is dedicated to our parent teacher interviews; this means there is a variation to our normal school day. School will open at 1:00pm and close at 7:00pm. There are no classes being held on this day. Students may attend school with their parents, to meet with their teachers at their designated appointment time. OSHC is running a full day program to assist families with childcare arrangements from 8:00am until 6:00pm. If you wish to book a place on the day, please contact OSHC directly. Please remember that students cannot be left unsupervised in the school at any time. We wish Lena and Brett the very best and thank them both for the wonderful contributions they have made to BSPS. N L O CHO Shaun will be taking up the role of Acting Principal at Brunswick North West Primary School for next term. Shaun’s secondment concludes at the end of Term 3 and we look forward to seeing him back here in Term 4. Congratulations Shaun. S We expect to have selected our new Acting Assistant Principal by the end of this week. We’ve had a huge response to our call for Expressions of Interest and the calibre of the applicants is outstanding. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspirant principal to join our wonderful community and also for us, as they will bring a range of different skills to the position and bring some fresh eyes to the table. School Council School Council met twice over the last two weeks. We took the opportunity to conduct a special planning meeting to look closely at some of our school data and finalise the Annual Report for 2014. This Report will be emailed out to families as well as posted on the A-Z section of our website; and hard copies will be available from the office by the end of term. JSC Final Assembly Next week our final assembly starts at 2:00pm on Friday afternoon with students being dismissed at 2:30. If you have the time to attend, it will be well worth while and I’m sure you will be amazed by the high standard of the student performances we have scheduled. 2 & 1 RS YEA Staff News At the end of this term Lena is leaving us to continue her studies and perhaps take her career in a different direction. Brett is also leaving as he and his family are moving to Queensland. A great BIG ‘Congratulations!’ goes out to our Junior School Council and their helpers, for organising such a successful and enjoyable Science Day last week; so much colour and so much fun! The level of support for this event once again highlights what an amazing school community we have and although the impact may not be overt, community involvement has significant impact on student learning. The atmosphere will be relaxed and most definitely creative! It would be absolutely excellent if anyone has big boxes, strong cardboard or paint they’d like to donate. Feel free to email me with any queries – Kate Page, [email protected] N O I DAT N U O F Fireworks in a Jar experiment! What effect will oil have on water and food dye? Predictions: Caitlin I thought the oil and water might turn green and blue! Baxter I thought the colours would turn black. Eva At the start, I thought that it would turn out as rainbow water. Carlo I thought it would make a little wave at the top. Observations: Erin The green and blue rain drops sank to the bottom, and then they changed into a different colour, which was black. Benji The greenish blue dropped down quick and then it slowed down. Genevieve The oil stayed where it is. The colours all mixed in with the water!
