WRITING COMPETITION
Official Rules for “Buen Camino”
Student Essay Contest
Open to high-school, college/university students who are taking a Spanish Language class.
How to Enter:
1. Complete the reading and simultaneous listening of ¡Buen camino! A Reading &
Listening Language Adventure in Spanish (Volume 1 and/or Volume 2).
2. Write a personal essay in Spanish, based on the reading of the books on the topic: “Por
qué deseo viajar a España para aprender español? Explain the criteria why you should
win the contest like Jenna did in the story. Write a short profile about you and explain
why the learning of Spanish is important to you by responding to the following
questions: ¿Quién soy? ¿De dónde soy? ¿Qué estudio y en dónde? ¿Qué deseo ser
cuando termine mis estudios? ¿Por qué y/o para qué estudio el español?
3. Essays must be a minimum of one double-spaced page in length and a maximum of
three double-spaced pages in length. All entries must have only one author.
4. Fill out the entry form on this site with your essay submission; which must be received
no later than 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, April 20th, 2015
5. Contact info of teacher/professor or parent if home-schooling must be entered in the
entry form.
6. Entries will be submitted electronically in the “Buen camino” website. Please include
your name next to your essay title when uploading your submission.
7. Only one entry per Volume per student will be considered. A student can enter the
contest twice only if the student has completed the reading/listening of both Volumes.
8. By entering the Contest, contestants agree to abide by these rules, and represent and
warrant that the entries are their own and original creations, and do not violate or
infringe the rights of any third party. Essays that do not meet the criteria will be
disqualified.

The deadline for entry is by midnight on Monday, April 20 2015
Raffle prize winners will be notified by email by Wednesday April 22, 2015.
Essay winners will be notified in October 2015.
